Hi All

Can anyone recommend any nice quiet campsites next to a canal as we would like to take out kayak and explore the canals

Been getting away since 2008
Just come back from Minnows Touring Park at Sampford Peverel, Tiverton.
It has direct access onto the Grand Western canal, lots of people with Kayaks on the site. Very reasonable and clean and tidy.
There is a bit of road noise around Pitch nos in the 40s. If you are around by the toilet block it's fine.

Hope this helps

More than toes wet now!
Just come back from Minnows Touring Park at Sampford Peverel, Tiverton.

And it's walking distance along the towpath to a couple of pubs which sell good food.

If OP was considering Scotland could think about parking up at Falkirk Wheel.

Bridge House Marina, Garstang, Lancashire. You can walk into the village from the site and if energetic could get to Lancaster in the kayak (10 miles by road).

Agree about the Minnows, we like pitches 31 or 32. We'll be down that way in May but not staying there this visit to FIL who lives in Sampford Peveril.

Since 1975 on and off.
Update: visited wheel today but not working due to fault! Camping is available in the car park for £15 per night but close to estates, they have had problems with skateboarders and now locking gates at 8 pm because of boy racers. For £6 more we are on Wheel Camping ehu own tap and drain clean bathrooms, more of a huge hardstandin but nice guy very easy going.
Very impressed with The Kelpies.
