Hi,

We're looking for a site near to North/Central Newcastle (for Gosforth) for a few days in the motorhome before the end of this month. We've checked the sites we know, but so far not found anything as most of the sites are closed till March/April. The only sites we've found so far are around Beamish (south of Newcastle) which would be a bit far from where we want to be.

I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions please? Thanks in advance! :giggle:

If you're a CMC member, there's a year-round CL a bit closer in - look under Tyne & Wear CLs. Or Durham club site and get train into Newcastle?

The nearest actual site would be at Whitley Bay - it's a CAMC site right on the coast. Tyneside Metro is probably best way to travel in as parking in the Gosforth area is atrocious - bit of a walk to the station or plenty of buses. There is an independant, Derwent Caravan Park, at Rowlands Gill which is very nice - Google it - but it' a decent bus ride into Newcastle.

There are CL/CS's around the area but nothing any closer - Newcastle is not very good for motorhomes unfortunately.

Sandy Bay near Ashington is probably too far out - and might not be open in Feb :(

Whitley Bay doesn’t open until 11 March, unfortunately.

Hi Terry & Puddleduck! Thanks very much for your replies and suggestions, I'll look up those sites - and hopefully we'll find one that's open. 🤞

We're thinking of taking a car up as well so we can be a bit more mobile - as you say, Newcastle isn't the best for motorhomes - especially out of season! Thanks again 😊
