can anyone direct me to the chat about a company in Germany (near Wurburg I think) that replaces blown side glazing ? I read the chat not so long ago and cant find it now, tried just about every search combo involving windows and germany with no success, even tried google maps search. going down that way in September and wish to book mine in for a replacement. I think they were a coach/truck glass specialist.
Many thanks.

I think it could be Zentral Autoglas who have a place at Melle and one at Burgashlach near Wurzburg? I think Melle might be the headquarters and the one at Burgashlach may be more dedicated to supporting Morelo, Concorde and Phoenix who at all within 10 miles.

We are not finding CN Glass all that easy…
Getting through on the phone a bit frustrating although the MD is good if you phone at 8.30!
Needing to see windows out before committing to the job
Quite expensive
But at least they are doing them
And with a 10 year guarantee
We had a local glass firm doing a job in the house concurrently- their comment was that they do motorhome windows ….
Too late to check ! But others have said try local double glazing firms

If you manage to split the frame and then split the double glazed panel without breaking it then you stand a good change of getting it put back together by a standard window place, if you break a pane or they are too badly etched by the damp to be reused then you need the whole thing remaking, the original panes are 2x3mm glass and 6mm spacer making a total 12mm and obviously you need to keep to this overall dimension. At the time that CN did our windows they couldn't toughen 3mm glass so needed to use 2x4mm and 4mm spacer bars, not all double glazing places use 4mm by all accounts so yes it is a bit of a lottery.

Our windows have a third pane underneath across the sliding panes which I think would have caused issues with the the local firm and account for the job costing quite a lot
I would still have liked to have checked locally
We had them done in Germany at the place the old RMB workers use in Bautzen
Twice as much and only 5 years-…

I did consider the part diy option but decided against it, if I had somewhere to store the van indoors or at least under cover I might well have tried. I know it's going to be North of £1K but its done in a day and we are over in Germany anyway. It is surprising nobody in the uk really caters for this as its seems a quite common problem on a class vans.

The problem though is that when the windows are done there is no guarantee it won’t happen again in a couple of years, some have lasted less than this.

For anyone looking to have their glass double glazed windows replaced in the UK I can recommend Autoglaze of Wimborne in Dorset. We had a couple replaced by them last year without needing to do any diy work & in our case the work was carried out at Travelworld in Stafford.

That’s quite confusing who did the work Autoglaze or Travelworld?

Was that an insurance job and if not would you mind sharing the cost ?

We paid for one of the windows, £2384.86 incl VAT. The other was an insurance job. It was necessary for Travelworld to do some preparatory work on the drop down bed to give access but Autoglaze added the cost of that to the insurance claim.

Autoglaze did the window replacement but Travelworld carried out some preparation on the drop down bed. We were told the bed would need removing and I know they had some of the trim off but didn't see what they actually did.

Was that price for one window to take it out and replace the double glazing or was it for a complete new window?

It was for a complete new window. In fact we kept the one removed plus the one covered by the insurance just in case they go again and we find someone to replace the glass at a fair price. Probably never use them as we'd need to figure out the refitting but who knows.

Just had an email back quoting 1K euros for a 'repair' and chassis number required for replacement, anybody go the repair route ? I have asked them what the repair entails and if its guaranteed.

many many years! since I was a kid
At that sort of cost, I would go the acrylic route with the inner and outer skins bonded together with black acrylic spacers. It can be made airtight and can never shatter like thin glass
