Hifirst of all apologies for what may be a long post
When I got my van 2010 fiat Ducato maxi it only came with one traditional key ( no fob). The driver's door is the only one with a keyhole and the central locking works turning the key to lock all doors and to unlock drivers and passengers only. Once inside the button on the dash will unlock the side whoosh bang door. The other button locks all doors at bed time. When the blackout screen is fitted it is difficult to open passengers door far enough to reach in to unlock side door. To make this easier I rigged up a cheap remote locking switch to open only the side door by attaching to relevant plates on the door electrics. This was wired to my then freestanding leisure battery and worked fine. We have decided that we would like to try off grid with no ehu from time to time so have invested in a split charge relay and wired in leisure battery. Now the extra switch just makes a dull click and does not open the lock. If I keep trying out of frustration the central locking fuse under the dash blows. My question is how can I wire it without causing this short. In this weather is absolutely doing my head in!!
