Selling , how do make sure you have payment in Bank

Hi we think we won't be using our Motorhome until next year at the earliest , selling private would be ideal after Lockdown , just worried about scammers , which is the best way to get money in Bank before releasing Motorhome

Bank transfers with the Faster payment system they all use now is non-reversable.

What we did was to say it had to be funds in our bank by transfer, the seller to tell us when this is set in place so we knew when to start checking and once it arrived we did two things; firstly transferred the money to a deposit/savings account so it was one step away from the bank details we had given out so not 'touchable' by any sophisticated scammer; and second then tell the buyer they can collect the van. There was no objection from our buyer but if there had been we would have said 'no sale' - no matter how much they might try and argue otherwise it's too much money to put at risk.
The other thing is I don't risk taking cash - I couldn't recognise a well forged £50 so could easily get ripped off like that.
