Well travelled
We went down to Dundee last weekend for the Antiques Roadshow. We traveled around Aberdeenshire for the week and decided to join the SNT as we could then visit some of the fabulous castles in that area of Scotland.
We had a great time, being a pair of old gits, its costing us about £6 pm for both of us. As it costs £20 for both of us to get into each castle, plus £3 parking we are now quids in.
We also stayed overnight at 2 castles, so we could get in first thing and then go see another in the afternoon, we did check parking signeage and never saw anything prohibiting overnight stops, we were accompanied by 1 other van on each site, but people were coming and going on most places up to 9pm mostly walking dogs (at least that's what we thought they were doing:D2).

I would recommend this area, especially if you are a NT member, there are some fantastic castles and big houses to see.

My nephew used to travel with John McGuiness to IOM for the racing in his left hand drive americam motorhome.
He sat on right at dash and had an old steering wheel which he used to play at driving, whilst driving along, he would wave at another driver and then get up and go into the rear of the van.

Hi
I’m pretty sure if your membership is valid in England too.
Some lovely stops down this way.

Dave

Yes. I think Scottish membership is cheaper than English but covers properties in both countries. They have an interesting reputation as landowners though.

Yes just used our Scottish membership at Fountains Abbey and have used at Clumber.

We originally joined Scottish National Trust and used that membership all over the UK. We're now English members but I can't for the life of me remember why or when we changed as SNT was quite a bit cheaper.

We try to use it (as well as English Heritage) as often as we can and always take delight in how much we have "saved"! However very few properties allow overnight parking.

As I understand it SNT & NT don't have the same database, so if you forget your cards they can't cross check, so you either pay or have an honest face, like me :giggler:
