We went down to Dundee last weekend for the Antiques Roadshow. We traveled around Aberdeenshire for the week and decided to join the SNT as we could then visit some of the fabulous castles in that area of Scotland.
We had a great time, being a pair of old gits, its costing us about £6 pm for both of us. As it costs £20 for both of us to get into each castle, plus £3 parking we are now quids in.
We also stayed overnight at 2 castles, so we could get in first thing and then go see another in the afternoon, we did check parking signeage and never saw anything prohibiting overnight stops, we were accompanied by 1 other van on each site, but people were coming and going on most places up to 9pm mostly walking dogs (at least that's what we thought they were doing).
I would recommend this area, especially if you are a NT member, there are some fantastic castles and big houses to see.
