Hi all,
Planning our next trip and have decided to have a look around the east coast of Scotland . Looking for recommendations of sites near cycling routes and not to far from a pub, not going to middle of September to miss the school holidays.
Thanks in advance.

Are you heading north of Aberdeen?

Hopefully, then over to Inverness and then back south
Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire has a decent site. Pub across the road and access from very close to the site to the old railway line (Formartine and Buchan Way) that goes for miles north and south. Excellent surface for cycling and a couple of wee villages to visit as well not too far away.

Coast along the Moray Firth from Inverness towards Banff is worth exploring, some stunning beaches. Not sure about cycling but plenty of forestry trails. I like Braemar (Balmoral) and Ballater along the River Dee.

There are many Scottish National Trust properties in Aberdeenshire, well worth joining and visiting

Carnoustie - Woodlands Caravan Park (Bill - just don't tell him I recommended!)
Findochty - Findochty Caravan Park (think Moira is still running it) - you go through the pub car park to get in
Fortrose - Fortrose Bay Caravan Park - (Rachael) - you can walk along the golf course to see the dolphins at Chanonry Point

Thanks for the excellent suggestions, now to try and plan a route.

You can park overnight in the car park at Silversands Aberdour beach. It’s usually free out of season but if the parking attendant is there it’s only £2 for the top car park. Pub within walking distance. If you have a small van you can park at the bottom of the hill next to the beach.

DOWNSIDE..... I used to pass back and forth past a lovely house On the gate it had . "...... .... Drambuie House !! "
I would WILLINGLY give up Conde Noble vinho tinto for the aroma and taste in the mouth of Drambuie. Nectar of the Gods.
Tea Bag.
PS. Indulge me. St. Patricks night. I was fetching the lads back from the " Dairsie Arms " near Cupar in a van.......... NO !!!!! ........... I was in one of the three taxis the landlord had ordered to takeus back to our " Camp ? " The Old Sugar factory yard in Cupar SHHHHH Fetched the van dinner time next day... RESULT and we all got paid the shift. (y)(y)

The east neuk of Fife is an amazing area, with a coastal path that is possible to cycle along, with a mountain bike. There is a wonderful selection of seafood and fish and chip shops. Fife council are very good at providing overnight stopovers, and waste disposal on a lot of their car parks

That’s true - Crail is a lovely wee town with the Lobster shack at the harbour. There’s a small campsite CL just a few miles outside with direct access onto the Fife Coastal path. There’s a bus stops at the campsite to take you to Crail/St Andrews one way and Anstruther/Pitenweem (I think) the other way.
