From Apr 2nd don’t see why not if your within your council area. We might do likewise.Staying in our local authority, we are planning a run out in the motorhome on the 26th staying overnight in a park for the night. Thoughts everyone.....?
Ms Sturgeon also said that travel restrictions within mainland Scotland will be “lifted entirely” on April 26.On our way!
Where did you read that?Travel from England should be allowed from the 17th May at the latest as I read it but not as soon as the current restrictions are lifted on the 26th April.
Thanks, but I guess that would depend on the restrictions being lifted in the other parts of the U.K."It is hoped restrictions on journeys between Scotland and other parts of the UK can also be lifted, if not on 26 April, then as soon as possible thereafter"
From the Scottish Government statement.
Absolutely, the Government are doing the usual, dipping their toe in the sea of public opinion. And, as you rightly point out, it depends on what happens elsewhere. Thanks, but I guess that would depend on the restrictions being lifted in the other parts of the U.K.
It still could be 26th April, because the Scot Gov statement leaves that as a possibility; it could also be a lot later, bearing in mind FM's reference to her wishing she could tell everyone that 'everything will be back to normal by 21st June [in respect of Summer & holidays as mentioned in Westminster], 'but I cannot'. There are other elements to consider, too: in no particular order, a] People going lockdown crazy and breaking out, as the behavioural scientists have warned; b] Holyrood Elections in early May 'Vote for me & I'll keep you locked in' is hardly a vote winner; c] if England opens up and all MHFun members swarm north, and FM lacks power to close the Border and Police Scotland cannot deploy enough officers to check vehicle safety on English vehicles as a legal quasi Border closure, there'll be hell to pay if Scottish residents cannot join in the holiday mood, including traveling south; d] pressure from the leisure industry to allow resumption of their businesses [because they have complied with lockdown to date]; e] the political pressure/damage that the continued travel restrictions would cause, courtesy of the Opposition Parties having a Gift Horse dropped in their laps less than 2 weeks before the HR Elections. There are other factors to consider as well, including the progress of the vaccination programme, and the availability of supply, to drive the infection rate still lower, but that would require at least the 3 week deferral, and probably 5 to 6 weeks to compile and analyse the data after the initial 2-3 weeks needed to acquire immunity.Travel from England should be allowed from the 17th May at the latest as I read it but not as soon as the current restrictions are lifted on the 26th April.
