Hello,

We have a Burstner Ixeo i744 motorhome, would like to know if anybody has a rear mounted scooter carrier fitted to this type of motorhome, and if so what make and type.
It already has chassis extensions and a towbar fitted but when I enquire about fitting a scooter carrier to it Im getting some conflicting info.
Thanks.

your chassis extension and therefore your tow bar will have a max vertical load capacity, nose weight, which is will be on the chassis extension certificate of conformity if you have one with the motorhome docs. I cant access mine at moment its tucked up in the van.

whats the max load in your garage that may give you a basic indication.

I passed a motorhome today that was carrying a scooter on a castor wheeled trailer which does not I believe transfer all weight to tow bar, there is a French made one I believe .

We used Armitage Trailers https://armitages.uk/ for a scooter carrier for our Vespa 300 (165kg) on our Swift Bolero 744PR with an Alko Chassis- they were very helpful and its been regularly used used over the last 4 years - they were able to work around the existing towbar so we could tow a car ( with the carrier removed) - they advised us on weight limits - the max weight is 200kg and the carrier weighs 30KG

Thanks for the quick replies, The motorhome is on a fiat chassis with chassis extensions, the towbar and extensions are by memo, the towbar has a max load of 100kg, and thats what Im being told I can carry on a carrier, 100kg less the carrier weight 40kg.
The extensions are 1.6mtr in length, and at that length can only carry 60kg of payload plus weight of scooter carrier 40kg.

Be sure you have enough spare capacity on the rear axle and spare payload on the van for that amount of extra weight

Out of curiosity what are the plated weights listed for MAM, axles and train?
