Most of my life in one form or another
We have a relatively new Sony " smart " tv and a netflix subsription.
Please beer with me as im not tech savvy at all.
Is it possible to save films or programs off netflix , into an Sd card then play onbthe Tv in the van without having to use a laptop?
I dont have specfic model numbers etc at the moment as im at work.
But im sure the tv in the van has ports etc for usb connectors etc.
Just trying to save on carrying or having to buy dvds.
Thanks

We use an Amazon firestick. You plug it into the back of your tv at home and do the same in the MH. Very cheap on Amazon. We watch Netflix and Amazon prime on it.

I have an old phone, I save Netflix, Prime and BBC to the phone and play back through the TV using a lead. This won't work with my new phone the old phone is a Samsung S5 and doesn't have a sim

No you will need the app to download programs to a phone, tablet or laptop.

I looked into this recently, so this is from what i could find out, it may not necessarily be totally factual as some geek may come along with an unknown patch which circumvents Netflix's method of downloading

There is no way of downloading netlix films/tv series onto sd or usb

The alternative is to purchase a large 128gb sim to put into your phone and put netflix on your phone and you can download them onto that sd card. You can adjust how much GB you want to be available for netflix downloads, my phone gave me 1GB to start with which i just moved to 5GB whilst I tried it. You can then (on most phones) mirror the phone to the TV. Downloading a film takes about a minute but is ready to view in 10 seconds.
We have now got the Netflix and Amazon app on both phones and I just have to work out how to mirror on an oppo phone (she has new samsung which can do it) and we have the potential of 40 or 50 GB of downloaded stuff that we dont need wife for abroad (but has yet to be checked out in a working environment) so if i have overlooked anything please let me know !

Edit: in re reading the post I made the Freudian slip of dont need wife for abroad which should have read dont need wifi for abroad

Why not just record into a hard drive (which is just a larger storage device than an SD card) and take that with you?

Of course recording some 'stuff' onto any device might not be legal ....

I haven't downloaded anything from Netflix for a while, but I remember after downloading it was only available to watch for 7 days without internet .Does anyone know if this is still the same?

You have to have the app on the device you are recording to as it checks your account online before you can play it back same with Prime.
I use an Android TV box that has 64GB of memory also has SD card slot and USB ports.

It's 30 days same with Prime, I've found some recordings time out after 30 days other are OK for 2 or 3 months but no way of knowing.

You made me think !

I ve just gone into my downloads and the ones i downloaded just over a week ago are still there.

And in case of a future question, if they run out, you have no wifi, just go to an area of free wife (sic) and redownload

I have downloaded to my phone but its just trying to get it onto the van tv

To date I have only "mirrored" the samsung phone to the tv inside the house via being on the same network. I see no issue with that phone being connected via usb port but the OPPO phone is proving a tad complicated but a bit more concentration on youtube watching should cure it

When you say usb to hdmi, i assume you mean cable connection for my phone ( samsung) to hdmi.
Apologies if i sound thick πŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺ

I use a Humax Freesat pvr with a hard 500gb disk. I can record films or TV programs or series, transfer them onto a USB stick, and watch them on TV or laptop in the van. It works very well and I've used it for years. I can't be bothered with the various TV sticks like the awful nowtv or Amazon things which soak up data and will work or not according to their own rules.
The main thing is that I usually don't get round to watching them coz I'm relaxing and enjoying camping!

Incidentally, when I get around to it, there will be one appearing on classified.
