I have had a TomTom Professional for many years, but it has now intermittently packed up - just will not switch on. Then suddenly does, last for a while, then nothing.
Cost per TomTom website £105. Certainly cheaper than new SatNav, has anyone any experience of their repair service?

Whilst £105 may be cheaper than the cost of a new unit three questions come to my mind -
  1. what warranty will Tom Tom give on the repair?
  2. is this repair just the start of the unit being on it's way out in totality?
  3. does the unit have free map updates but will these becoming to an end soon as Tom Tom has made a number of models "redundant" as a result of dropping map updates for them?
Would a new, or perhaps, a more up to date used unit off Classifieds on here be a "better" option?

I got brassed off with Tomtom purposely making updates too big for my older satnavs and trying to get me to buy new.

So purposely bought a Garmin Camper for less than a new TomTom from a fellow Funster....... Works well and I feel smug saving cash 💰.... :giggle:...... It accepts heights and weights too.

I went off all stand alone satnavs when 'updates for life' (paid not free) were discontinued. I used to use CoPilot on my iPhone, but have now started to use Magic Earth. Like Copilot, you can add your vehicle size and weight.
