Any recommendations of satellite dome for our MH ? Needs to be compatible with sky q. Just had a quote to supply and fit from a well known dealer and nearly had a heart attack 😂

Is streaming reliable though 🤷‍♂️ I haven’t a clue 😂 all im Interested in is uninterrupted coverage of the football 😂
If you are in a good 4g/5g area then possibly streaming could be ok otherwise it will be rubbish. Whereas a clear view just east of South will give you rock solid signals via satellite.

Cheers . I can’t stand break ups in signal when I’m watching something. I’d sooner just leave it and not bother at all. I did invest in a really good free standing dish for sky q which will cover Europe and is brilliant. Just thought for ease now maybe get roof system but if the prices are extortionate then probably leave it . 😂

I thought that these days without a huge dish you won't pick up any English channels south of Paris.
I got all English channels once in Perpignan on a bog standard 52cm sky dish from home. My mate was amazed 😂

All good on my Oyster on south of France last autumn.
Everytime I think it's about time do get rid of it I find myself somewhere with no 4g signal and thankful I didn't take it off.
I'll leave it on for now (y) but I don't think I'd buy a new one.

Edit : PS I have a firestick also for when the trees are blocking a signal

I use a motorised Maxview in my van for Q and also have WiFi and firestick for streaming so I'v covered all avenues.

Dish cost me £700 second hand and had a company to fit it at £200, WiFi I did myself.

I had a roadpro dome on my now sold A Class van - bought it new in 2014 on offer for £1,000 fitted and in 8 years it was very reliable - the only time I didn’t get a signal was in trees or parked with a mountain blocking the line of sight.

I have a PVC on order (12 months and waiting 😱) and am unsure whether to get a directional normal aerial, Wi-Fi router system or a flat Sat (in my mind dome or normal 65cm dish looks too big and awkward on a PVC).

On our previous MH we had a Maxvew VuCube dome auto. little disapointed when in europe, struggled to get a good signal once into Mid France (below Roue). Also struggled in certain parts of UK.

We have a firestick now, which i sufficent for what TV we watch when away.

Sky are looking to go full streaming. Satellites and the associated hardware cost too much investment. Just get the customer's internet service to carry the data for free.

Of course that's not so useful for mobile users in motorhomes. But we're not really a big enough market for them to worry about.

I had a Roadpro dome fitted from new in 2016 and it’s been faultless , all U.K. btw. and no worries with stormy weather.

depends what you mean by huge , my 85cm Maxview Autoskew which is fairly common size of dish fitted to Motorhomes pulls the mainstream channels to just north of Pau in the west and Nimes in the East .
In Spain I just switch over to Intelsat 901 and still get the usual channels

Hi Robbie,

Nice to see lots of Maxview mentioned in the thread! As far as I am aware there are only two Sky Q compatible domes available (please someone correct me if I am wrong), one from SatFi, and our new Sky Q VuQube that was launched a few weeks ago. Many of our installers are now fitting these.

Regards,
Lee

Yer I think after having a quote for £2700 to supply and fit one . I’ll stick with my freestanding maxview now. I like my tv but not at that price :)
