So in the cupboard is the unit to turn on and spin the dish.

Then the Oyster box that the satellite feed goes into. This then outputs to a free view box with scart output.

Now my TV (Avtec Pro) doesn’t have a Scart input. But it does have a satellite option in the menu as well as satellite inputs

Do I need the freeview box to send the signals to the tv or is that an extra layer I can do without now and take the satellite feed out and remove and plug it straight into the TV (from the oyster box) ??

Or do I need a freeview box with a different output?

You’ve got it ;-). Ditch the freeview box now that you have a TV with built in Sat receiver.

You shouldn't need the digital satellite receiver if your TV has a built in one.

All the above are correct, the avtex has an inbuilt sat deoder. As you are probably aware satellite requires line of sight so may not be suitable for all pitches/stopovers. Do you also have an aerial for digital TV and you may consider something like an amazon firestick for further enhancements to your TV.

Yea got a regular arial i've been using so far. Ive got 2 TV's in the van and find that I cant get a good signal on both at the same time. Not that im watching both at once. But channels are also limited depending on where I am.

The lounge TV is the one next to the satellite input which is good as thats the main one. The bedroom TV is really just for watching DVD's in bed and maybe the news first thing.

You can connect both your aerial (RF) lead and satellite lead (F-plug) to the TV and select the input you want to watch on the TV menu.
This means if you can't get satellite reception it just a matter of switching to TV \ aerial \ etc input on the TV menu assuming it's correctly aligned.
If your Oyster has two receiver outputs you could possibly connect both TVs to the satellite dish if both have satellite decoders in built. Or, alternatively, use your redundant current receiver connected to your second TV. Just use the existing aerial cabling connected to the second receiver output.

It seems that lots of people are going down the wifi solution, personally I like a mix of options and have a mix of satellite terrestrial and WiFi using an amazon firestick. I have a disabled daughter who gets Betty anxious without tv. The wifi allows us to even use TV on the road. There are lots of guys on here can advise on multiple solutions depending on your needs.

I think its a single feed dish. Thats fine as only really want it for the Living room TV. Both are brand new Avtec Pro's with sat input so could work but as people say ill probably go Fire stick too and maybe have that one in the Bedroom TV for Netflix option in bed.

Ive seen the Sat or Digital input on the source selection with made me think I can lose the digi box in the cupboard. Looks like its all going to come together really.

You should be able to move the Firestick between the TVs and watch on whichever you want.

we have oyster with twin lab so have one direct to tv and the other through a sky box which is great when out in Spain as you get English channels:giggle:

So we are not quite there yet.

I plugged the dish into the TV today.... Well via the 2nd control unit the actual dish input goes into first.

I turned on the unit to flip the dish up. It had various options so I went for automatic search and it decided it was looking for a HotBird..... Yea me too lol

Anyway it spent the next 10-15mins spinning and angling and thats about it. The TV was set to Satellite input but kept just saying no signal check dish.

I did try to see if I could ask for a different dish but it kept just reverting back to HotBird... That may be me with finger trouble and not knowing how to change the settings.

Any ideas or do I need to go see "A man who can"

If you're in the UK you really want to search for Astra 2 satellite. That's the one you get the UK channels on. From memory, the compass bearing is 151.8 degrees if you're using a compass.
Make sure the signal is not getting blocked by trees \ buildings \ etc.

davidathomas42 If when you get as far as the photo you press the right or left arrow a menu will come up with the option to change satellite then press the button with the tick on it to confirm it will then give a choice of sats pick one by scrolling with arrows and then select with tick button it will then search for your selection.
Here’s a copy of instruction booklet😊
