Just seen post on Outandabout re Satelite TV in Spain regarding Oyster Satelite and or Quicksat being able to get Satelite tv in Spain/Portugal without subscribing to Sky due to the box they supply. Just interested to see if anyone on here has any experience using one and same question do they work.

Need a big dish in Spain,,BUSBY

That will be Intelsat 907 @ 27.5 west using the back up satellite transmissions for UK freeview , you are not supposed to use any satellite receiving equipment to view the channels that are transmitted . However many do including myself .
I have two receivers one being an Icecrypt s1600chd and the other is a Comag HD45 both have the necessary firmware and BISS codes installed allowing the satellite signals to be decrypted .
A manual set up 85cm dish is all that's required or a automatic roof mounted system preferably with autoskew

Hi There The Intelsat 907 @ 27.5 west went into service 15th of February 2003 it’s lifespan was expected to be 12 years so it was meant to go out of service in 2015 it's coming to the end of its life, so could possibly go out of service who knows when, I do know quite a few people who use it to this date, just thought you ought to be aware.

Read the update below it might put your mind at ease.

I also considered this do you know if these receivers with the correct firmware are still available??

We are sat here in Conil de la Frontera watching tv with sky box, using an 85cm Oyster V dish with Autoskew now I know people will say ah but you can’t get BBC or ITV which is correct but not all of the time it does vary from place to place. We do receive loads of channels to watch in English which suits our needs. We have been able to get signal all the way along to Perpignan again varying degrees of reception.?
