Anyone got recommendations for staying in Santiago de Compostela? I stayed in a campsite walking distance to the centre when on a motorbike some years back but can't remember the name.

Aires/campsites I can’t help you with but while visiting treat yourself to a G&T on the terrace of the flagship Parador and people watch the pilgrims celebrating finishing their trek. The Parador is located to your left rear if you’re facing the cathedral in the main square. As a historic monument I believe they also allow visits to the cloisters etc.

We stayed there while doing a motorcycle tour of Spain and it was quite something to be waved through the police controlled barriers, park up in the square alongside the Bentleys and Rollers, and have a couple of porters running out to carry our panniers in!

Helen and Martins Trek's on YouTube covered the route so a dip into that might give you some ideas and suggestions for your tour. Good luck with it.

We stayed a couple of nights last autumn at the aire on the outskirts. About 30 minutes walk into the centre. The Aire itself is large but basic. It's basically an extension of the coach park.

Very interesting and atmospheric city to visit though.
