Had anyone done this route by car, with a dog, and can recommend hotels on the way down in either Spain or Portugal for an overnight stop en route that will accept dogs?
I realise most on here will do it by motor home and use aires etc, just asking in case anyone has done it this way.

The size of the dog may be an issue. A small bag-sized one shouldn't be a problem. :)

If you Google pet friendly hotels Spain you will get a few links. Sites such as Expedia can use filters I believe so you can find ones taking dogs.

Hi.
When coming down through France in the car,we would use B&B Group Hotels, they have " Dog friendly " rooms in some of their Hotels.( Car parks big enough for m/ho's,when its so chock a bloc with furniture etc there is NO room to sleep in the bunks. 🚛 🚛 )
They had opened some up in Spain a few years back worth having a lookB&B Group hotels France/Spain. Just looked up their site,( B&B Group Hotels-France and Spain ),it is reading 33 Hotels and shows positions of the Hotels on a map... Best of Luck.

Camping Olimpia just off 225 on the A62 north of Salamanca has rooms but not sure about dogs, you would need to contact them.

Could always try this [Link deleted on request Jim]
