I bought a pair of these when they was on offer kindly pointed out by Wombles.

I now need to fill them I believe I can't fill them completely ftom new. So I am looking for advice please. I have searched but can't find the info.
I have the 10kg bottles thanks for your help in advance

Don't they have an 80% cut off valve if not I wouldn't consider them safe to use.

If you read the instructions -- obviously me being a man I never did.

You can only fill them to 80% because the are prefilled with air(?) prior to shipping.
Mine only filled to 14Kg on first fill.
I simply put them in my car boot and went around to our local Morrisons

I would go with 14ltrs on the first fill with a 10kg bottle. This has something to do with the air thats already inside the bottle.
On future fills i keep mine at 18/19ltrs. Yes there is an 80% cut off BUT I have experienced (just once) and read where sometimes it cuts off above the recommended 80%. Reading up they seem to blame pressure at the filling stations..
Either way I prefer to stick at max19lts when filling an empty bottle.
Once a young lad where i fill up managed to get in 23 ltrs !!!!! I had liquid coming out, luckily after advise i let off some of the content until i only had gas.

If you are on Facebook there is a safefill group, handy for info and I think there is a list / map of filling stations.
Also you have apps and websites like MYLPG.EU. (y)

Safefill first fill rules info. on paper receipt from seller:
5kg max. 6 litre then further fills max. 8.5 litres
7.5kg max. 10 litres then further fills max. 14.5litres
10kg max. 15 litres then further fills max. 19.5 litres
This confirms all posted above.

Did my first fill last Monday, 15l in a 10kg as directed by safefill. As above, its to allow the air to be purged during the fist use, then you can use the full capacity. If ever you are on the M6 pop into Carver's Wolverhampton, my 15l cost me £5.18😁

sorry Lenny,

Yes, they do.

But its strongly recommended not to fill 80% full on first fill.

(sounds like a right mouth full (pardon the pun)).
A mouth full indeed especially with a partially frozen mouth at present ... comes out more like I'm doing a load of phuffing! :giggle:

25,000 male Funsters are now furiously looking for your telephone number so they can give you a call.:whistle2::laughing::imoutahere:
Much cheaper than those premium rate numbers (allegedly, of course!):giggle:

If they did call they'd be disappointed as the only 'fun' they'd experience is hysterical laughter once they'd heard me! 🤪

I swung by Morrisons yesterday to fill up the wee Suzuki runaround.....and notice an A4 notice on the LPG pump that you can only fill fixed systems. I asked when paying for fuel and the lad behind the counter (appeared like he really didn't want to be there bless him) said "something came down to say no cylinders"......so I contacted Safefill and Morrisons when I got home......Safefill said they would contact Morrisons within 20 mins of my contact, Morrisons did the "we'll reply within 3-5 days) ... today they both emailed me, Morrisons first to say it was being dealt with by Customer services, then 30 mins or so later Safefill emailed to say that they have assurance from Morrisons Fuel Director that the store will be updated with the policy for Safefill.....an hour later Morrisons Customer Service emailed with apologies, the stores will be instructed to fill Safefill and to inform the kiosk that you are filling up a Safefill bottle....... I suspect some scallywags have been trying to fill Calor etc at the pumps and this store took it upon themselves to ban all but fixed systems. Lucky for me I was going next week to fill the van and fill up the bottles before we head off the following week on a trip....

Follow up.... needed to run the van after a couple of months enforced covid confinement...well lockdown...lol...I nipped to Flogas at Peterborough to fill....£11.60 for the first fill (20 litres) ...he was saying both them and calor have bottle shortages and it is a nightmare....so glad I managed to get and choose Safefill... Ready for Yorkshire on the 25th....happy days
