I’m planning on converting a vivaro into a camper and was wondering if I could skip all the electrics and just having lights and fridge connected to a Jackery (or powerbank similar) we are not fussed about having all the fancy gadgets or anything like that the only thing we want electric for is lights, usb, fridge and some source of heating (can you power a diesel heater from your main battery ?) or if anyone has any other heating recommendations? And do you think this would be possible ?
Thanks

Certainly possible, some vanlife type videos on YouTube.
Whether it's a good idea is arguable and no doubt the arguments will be on here.

just get a leisure battery and a split charge much cheaper than a jackery running a fridge is going to be your problem without some way to recharge ideally you need solar as well or a 3 way fridge to run on gas

A Jackary is just a lithium battery with a built in inverter and some usb switches etc.
You will pay a premium for that to be all bundled together, but yes sure it can work. Problem is you get less power for more money.
EG the jackary explere 1002wh you will find for around £1100 the battery is 50 ah ish and you can pick up Lithium batteries for 100 now for around £400 or less. Add a cheap inverter, then some 12v attachments then money to be saved.

BUT yes, for a ready to go solution, they will work. And I believe they will charge from your 12v socket when driving, alebit very slowly.

Fridge and heating are your enemies I think. Oh, and how will you recharge the powerpak?

Powerpaks are great for USB and LED lights. Even low power stuff such as CPAPs might last a couple of nights, depending on the battery size.

Recharge it while driving or with the solar,

And I was looking at one of the £80 Halfords cool box’s still undecided what kind of heating to go for

Running the cool box at 3.5 amps will take half the battery capacity in 8 hours from the Jackary, and thats if you go for the 1002.
not really designed for that kal3
your car will at best probably throw in 70-80w when charging it via cigarette socket.

Those type of cool box are very energy inefficient. A compressor cool box or fridge uses much less power. They cost a lot more but even then you will still need around 200W of solar and 180Ah of battery capacity for year round use.

Have a look at the many Chinese diesel heaters on eBay. They may be what you need?
