I can’t find this out anywhere, so am asking those adventurous tourers for their opinion. We’re doing a three weeker this August (kids school holidays). For reasons I’ve explained elsewhere, we have to stay on sites that we have pre-booked (ASCI or Alan Rogers recommended), and nearly always for more than one night.
So, this August we are booked onto the tunnel, crossing into France, then hang a left into Belgium and down into Luxembourg. From there, down to Southern Germany, then on to the Austrian Tirol. From there to Italy, near Venice. On to Switzerland, then France and then back home.
My question is this. With nine border crossings, we will need to adhere to whatever rules the new country has. It seems, for example, that in Germany, you have to retest before you are allowed on a site. How is everyone going to manage this? Are there some countries that have the same rules or will we test every time we cross a border? That could cost hundreds and hundreds of euros.
I want to hope that by August, everyone has calmed down with this requirement to test – or at least willing to accept LFT - but it is a bit optimistic to just hope.
What have others experienced, or are expecting? How many borders can be crossed without difficulty?
