Ruby's last trip.

Oh, I am so very sorry to hear your sad news. We lost our little girl last year, while we were on holiday in Spain. She was 14 years old. The journey home was so traumatic without her and then walking into a silent home just broke my heart. I still find poo bags in pockets and totally break down. I absolutely understand your pain. The best comfort, if there is any to be had, is knowing you did the right thing at the right time. Bless you for giving her such a wonderful life xx

It's the one downside to pet ownership isn't it. We take the cats travelling but had to say goodbye to Widdy in March. His brother Grimmy has become very needy of a fuss. Our pets are really part of the family are they not?

I thought I was prepared. Obviously not. As we do 90 days trips and are away quite a bit the chances of it happening when away was there. But I’m glad we were at home.
I could not imagine that journey home you had 💔
Bless you

So sorry to read this. Pet ownership is so hard when you lose them. I really feel for you. In time the memories will balance out the pain. We lost our last cat this year, she was in decline and took herself off and didn’t return. RIP Ruby.

Sorry for your loss, we went through the same just over a year ago and he’s still missed. We found the van empty the first few trips without him, thankfully we have a grand dog we can borrow for the odd walk.

Sorry I'm late with my hug, yes the pain is unbelievable and very emotional but you know in your heart you did the kindest things for Ruby, first by giving her a home then setting her free from any suffering. No one can take your memories away. Gawd you've got name filling up now and I didn't meet Ruby. Stay strong and you'll get through it. (hugs)

Yes that first trip will be hard. Our son has a dog we sometimes look after. He will be our comfort for now (y)

Never too late.

Thanks for your kindness. I have to say it’s been very therapeutic putting it on here and talking. Rather than sitting in silence.

Thanks again to everyone for your support 🫶

Be proud that you did the right thing for Ruby despite your pain.
They never really leave you. We have lost cats and a dog over the years and although I am still a bit tearful over losing every one of them I treasure the memories of having them in my life.
Run free at the bridge little Ruby.

I am amazed at how deep the love in your heart that a dog can get.

We are keeping ourselves busy also getting ready for our next big trip starting next week. Like people say the pain does ease with time and the memories of the mad moments the flat out sprints up and down the garden for no reason. Then you start to smile again.

We feel your pain remember the happy times and then find another faithful friend as soon as you feel able it took two years before I felt able but it’s worked out well.❤️

Thanks.

I'm glad you were able to find another dog.
We have said a break is needed first. We are away next week for 90 days. the first time in a motorhome without a dog. So we will see how it goes. Never say never. (y)
