This is our current plan for our latest tour starting end of Jan'18 and finishing end of March'18. We are fairly conversant with Spain having toured several times, however we've only previously spent a week in Portugal in the MH (left fairly quickly as the weather was awful), so any useful comments or suggestions would be welcome. We tend to mainly do sites with the occasional aire/wild camping. We will be spending a week at both Los Escullos and Zahora (Canos de Meca) so will have 6 weeks left to do the rest.

@JJ So disappointed to see your photos of Pego de Altar barragem - it was so beautiful to be parked looking over the fantastic lake last time we were there - what's happened?

Looks fine and very similar to a couple we've done.

Inland Portugal is worth wandering through if you get bored with the coast - or the Atlantic weather gets a bit much.
Lisbon is worth a visit - a good campsite on the outskirts with a good bus service. Then use the City Tour bus, their 48-hour 4-route ticket is a good deal.

I'll be watching this with interest, Ann. We'll be a few weeks behind you, though. Hopefully, crossing to Caen on 8th Feb, and following the same route as you from the Spanish border. However, we're watching the weather and may just head straight to the Algarve via Seville and el Rocio. Last time we were in Seville, we stayed at the aire by the bridge, in easy walking distance of the city (Campercontact no. 40897.)
In Portugal, amongst other places, we've got Alvor campsite pencilled in. We've been to Alvor before, not in the van, and we liked it.
Moving up through Portugal, we'll probably spend a few days around Cascais/Estoril. It's a good area, and there's an excellent train service for visiting Lisbon. Haven't sussed out the aires/campsites yet, though.
Further north, there's a very good aire at Foz de Arelho, right on the Obidos Lagoon. We've stopped there before, and will probably head there again.
Hope our paths cross. :xgrin:

Keep us up to date with your journey. Hope it all goes well and that we can meet up somewhere.
Have a lovely Christmas and a great new year.

xx

P.S. Still nothing from John and Mary and I don't think they're members here any more. Hope it doesn't mean that Mary has not had a good result from the treatment.

@The Dude . I haven't had a reply from John and Mary either. Hoping it's not bad news.
Happy Christmas to you both. :xThumb:

That looks almost identical to the trip we done earlier this year. However, it took us almost 5 months and we visited a shed load more places.
A pity you do not have more time as your bypassing some wonderful places. Still always the next time.

@bellabee Just remembered that you were planning on going to Portugal - did you make it and are you still there? We chickened out because of the weather but we've just flown in for a few days to celebrate my birthday. Staying in Lagos (bit too built up for us) but it's really nice down at Sagres and Praia de Luz and we particularly like Ferragudo opposite Portimau.

@The Dude . Like you, we didn’t make it. Spent 8 weeks in Spain. Now making our way, slowly, back through France.
Have a lovely time in Portugal, and Happy Birthday.
