Looking for some recommendations for decent EHU stops on the route Irun to Cartagena .
Looking to travel in a months time for 3 months in Southern Spain / France so the west route through France seems to be the most logical.
Thanks in advance.

You thinking 2 days driving to get from Irun to Cartagena?

I’ve done this route many times and don’t drive too far each day as being over 3.5t are restricted to 50mph on the motorway.

So after leaving Camping Larouetta, ACSI, just France side of Irun our next stop is the camping Zaragoza. Expensive for EHU but no other such sites around really.
Then down to a camper stop just off the motorway on the outskirts of Valencia, ACSI too last time there but not now I think.

Or we have done Pucol, just north of Valencia,Camping Valencia and Camping Altomira at Navajos just before Valencia. Both ACSI. Altomira is nice with restaurat, if a bit tight in places for a big van and steep access road to the terraces.

Then down to around Benidorm area depending on how we were feeling. The furthest I have driven was to Crevillente, a very nice site with a hotel called Camping International Las Palmeras and ACSI too.

Then Cartagena is an early arrival the next day. A lot may depend on how full the sites are once you hit the coast.

Hope this helps wp1234 😊

We normally stop at Larouetta on French border then either Pico de Miel site just north of Madrid or site at Aranjuez just south of Madrid then on to Murcia area. We find it an easy 2 day drive.

Would you go anywhere near Madrid if heading to Cartagena?

We have used Riaza which is 40 mile north of Madrid as a halfway stop over, easy run to Murcia from there.

The simple answer is yes, but, in winter it is more at risk of snow than via Zaragoza.

Also in 2 out of 3 journeys, in the car, via Madrid we were subjected to imitation Police Officers purporting to be in an unmarked car trying to pull us over. Both were Saturday and on the non toll ring road. We started to travel via Zaragoza in the car after that but have done it in the MH since as we wanted to visit Madrid & Aranjuez.

The Guardia did finally arrest a gang doing this back in 2011

There's a a site at Manzanera on the way across to the med. DONT USE IT!!!!
Absolute dump, mostly closed down at this time of year (no hot water and V. scruffy) and very expensive for one night.
Only mention it cos family recommended it to us and as it was our first time down there, we went for it........... BIG mistake.

Fantastic many thanks 👍

I wonder if I may ask why you need an EHU for a one night stop over, why is it so important? You will be in transit, so I naturally assume your batteries will be fully charged.
If you need mains voltage for medical machines, then maybe look at either 12V supplied machines, or maybe a battery/inverter system that will be able to cope for an overnight stop.
Cannot think of any other reason one would need an EHU for a transitional stopover?
Thanks, best wishes, hope you have a safe trip.(y)
