Rooflight Fixing

On my last trip the cover on my shower rooflight flew off never to be seen again. I wonder can anyone advise how difficult it is to remove the old one and how to fit a new one. Be glad of of all advice.

Sorry, I'm not very technical. But if you mean the roof light opening it's a fairly straight forward job. Depending on the size and type. Normally you just have to undo the screws holding it in. And make sure you get a very good seal when fitting the new one. You must use a good sealant, one recommended for Motor Homes. I resealed mine. About an hours job.

Maybe helpful to say what make of van and what type of roof light.
A photo would also help , as I know the mini heki is only held on to the frame with plastic pins.

The van is a Pilote Explorateur 715 the rooflight has no name on it that I can see it is the smallest of the them on the left hand rear of the roof.

Can’t really make it out in the photo, does look like this inside or should I say did it (sorry about that)

If so just pins to remove.

Hi Manic sorry photo not great but basically it is similar to yours. Appears to be screwed in from inside held with 3 screws each side. How does the outside fix just with Sikafix? I can't see any other fixings like screws etc.

Remove inner trim, . .. it just pulls off..

Undo the fixing screws. they are screwed into the outer frame and pull outer and inner frames together, making a seal on the roof.. there are no screws on the outside

After removing old window, clean the old mastic off the roof using a plastic scraper, then finely white spirit on a rag.. make sure it's all off

To refit, do NOT use Sikaflex.. use a non setting mastic such as Carafax IDL 99 or mastic on a roll such as W4 .. Dometic give instructions on this with new window

It looks like Mini Heki

check here for the correct replacement.. also note they come with forced ventilation and without.. also check roof thickness to get the correct one
