can any body tell me how you measure a roof light in a motorhome mine measures just 430 mm from side to side would i need a 400mm one or 500mm or is there an in between sze tia

It is the measurement of the hole that it goes in. Therefore if you have 430mm inside I would guess it is a 500mm.
I have ust measured a 400 x 400 fiamma & it is 325mm inside the plastic trim, 430mm outside edge of plastic trim.

As previously said it's the aperture that you measure.
The thickness of the roof is important as that is the size skylight that you need to buy.
The inside of the hole should be battened with wood as when you tighten the skylight screws it can crush
insulation without reinforcement.
The roof hole corners should be rounded to prevent stress cracks.
