Sounds great. We plan to do the trip, June, July this year. Any tips or hints would be much appreciated. What not to miss...what to avoid , for example!

Don't think there was any where we went that we would say avoid,
rather than go from town to town on the main roads we used to pick routes through the countryside!. Good choice of Stellplatz,in towns or out in the middle of nowhere.

There is a map that you can pick up from any tourist office once you get there that will take you on the small byroads, many that are still on the foundations of the old via Claudia Augusta. That was the Roman road that linked North Germany with italy and later became the Romantische Strasse.
