Reading in the press about paying for data in the EU got me checking our phone plans before a possible trip later this year. We're with BT and have their Roam Like Home data plan and it's still valid in 47(?) countries. Have you checked yours lately if you're going abroad?

Its the fair usage policy you need to check, thats the one that kicks in when your abroad, for 02 I think its 20Gb per month for a couple of months and thats it.

New contracts come with restrictions, old ones (at least on Vodafone) don't seem to yet. Shan't be taking out a new contract until I'm forced too.

Meanwhile just had a week in Turkey - the same phone I can use for no extra charge in Europe cost me £6 a day extra.

Off to France for 3 weeks today … took out the vodaphone euro deal for £15 for 15 days they also do a 8 day for £8 so I will need one of each
Personally don’t think £1 per day is bad and will not break the bank :blusher:

It still has a fair usage limit of 25GB though.

It isn't "in the EU" it is "outside the UK".

It is when they were making money before & had to be forcibly made to bring in roaming by the EU & now out again they couldn't bring it back quick enough & are scamming excess profits from customers..

My mate when in his · shop last week as going to america wednesday just gone, to ask whether there was anything he needed to do." Yes , he was told , do not turn it on.If it is turned on even without being used you are liable for the £2/day charge for roaming." To say he wasn't happy would be a lie.

You pay your money to take your choice… all phones have an off button

Is the £15 additional to your contact?
My usual 30 days will now cost me
£30?
I usually pay £8.00 per month in total.

Sky mobile have just turned on the £2 a day in the eu charge

Just had a call from Fonehouse as my contract is up in a month (Vodafone) to see if I wanted them to see what was suitable for me. I told him that if the providers/offers were the same as on the website they're no good to me as all charge daily roaming rates now, he confirmed this was the case so no good to me. He did ask about Sky though for home broadband etc but I told him I live in the only area of the UK that has it's own telephone exchange and not BT and thus we can't get BT here ... he checked and was surprised as I suspect he's never come across it before. He's going to update my records so that they don't ring me again for a new contract etc as they can't currently provide what I need.

Big thumbs up for Lobster. We bought in Spain in March, used through Portugal and now in France. 40gb's days, unlimited calls and txtxs for 18€ for 28 days and automatic top up every 4 weeks.

Smarty is 12gb a month

We are going to be in France for a long time starting next month, can anyone recommend the best French Sim provider to purchase a sim for our personal hotspot device please?

Looked at Lobster great for Spain but only 12Gb roaming so once cross the border to Portugal you are limited to 12Gb.

When in Portugal I've used the NoS sim's unlimited data for 25/20/30 days for €15/20/30 no roaming don't work outside Portugal, Vodafone do a similar deal.

We were on the Superdrug unlimited but that stopped March so have now changed to Tesco unlimited for 2 months then 2 months 12gb start your 2 months unlimited again, this suits us well as we’re now limited to 90/180
