We live in ely, littleport is a bit rough, lots of traveling people!!!!!! Ely has a free motorhome parking space in Pocket park, literally 1 minutes walk from the riverside and 5 mins from the town, it's a nice spot for a couple of days

Nowhere near Cambridge then ;)

I'll be watching this thread with interest as we'll be looking for somewhere to stay next month when we are "off duty". We'll probably want to have easy access to Norwich. With it being February EHU would be very welcome so probably a site.

£25 a night is a bit expensive unless there are fabulous facilities!

It’s flat. Very flat.Very,very,flat. If you like flat, you’ll like Littleport, but there’s not really anything else there but flat.
Oh,did I mention,it’s flat.:D

We are thinking about a couple of nights at Rectory Farm, Hingham just to see if it's any good. Looks like a few interesting things to explore locally plus an hour on the bus to Norwich. Unfortunately our Scottish bus passes won't be accepted.

It’s rubbish. Was there a few weeks ago.

Hi, is that in the Fisherman’s park at the bottom of Willow Walk?
Thanks.

Riverside. We tried it, and most of the site has been changed to static caravans. The toilet block is very very basic, and has no heating. There is only on grass camping, which is not ideal in this weather, with only one on hardstanding which they thought had no electric, but I found some nearby. Currently it’s a bit of a building site due to the conversion to statics, and there is one pub nearby, and that is ok, but the village......don’t bother.

We’ve stayed at Cherry Hinton. Quite close to Cambridge

You will not get "easy" access to Norwich from Littleport unless you take the train to Ely and change.

There are plenty of good sites nearer - how about CCC Norwich? [open 01/04 to 04/11 so not Feb!]

How about EC Landamores at Wroxham: short walk into an interesting place with the "largest village stores in the world" (Roys: smaller branches in lots of Norfolk towns) and a good bus service to the City?

Gordon

We have 2 CMC sites in our village but the bus service is very limited.

It's just tucked by the river by the railway bridge, if you can find the cutter pub on Google earth and then follow the river towards little port you'll see the railway bridge , is there some where specific you want to go? There is a camp site near wicken, it has water and emptying, not sure about showers it does have toilets, there's a nice walk to wicken fen ,an average pub but the nearest shop is in stretham

Thanks. Just fancy a stay in Ely sometime to visit the Cathedral. Found the car park now and noticed it is a bit narrow. Do they allow you to park parallel with the railway?

Don't know as we live there so haven't actually parked there ,

We are there in February and have to be in Glasgow the first weekend in March so neither the CCC site nor Landamores are open :( I'm not sure the "other" Grandparents would cancel their cruise of a lifetime at such short notice lol.

We've stayed at the CCC site before, it's a bit basic but so close to the centre - however the access to the site isn't very good with low bridges no matter which way in and a really narrow gate. When we were there a caravan was jammed in the gateway so no access for anyone in or out. I don't know how they managed to free it in the end but I imagine there was a hefty repair bill - or even a write-off.

The Rectory Farm site looks okay - we can only try and see.

Sorry: I thought Landamores was open all year round. However, I've checked and you're correct

Good luck - Gordon
