Here is the web site......

A quite unusual campsite. As far as I can tell it is a worked out quarry, the pitches are in a great curved wall of stone maybe 200 feet high.

It has been established a long time, the pitches are divided by mature thick hedges. It's all lined out with masses of large rocks. So a nice private feel to the place.

First class shower block.

We did not sample the restaurant because we arrived a day out of season and it was closed. Decent camp shop.

The only nearby attraction is the Tissington Trail cycle track which more or less runs Ashbourne to near Buxton. Plenty of it, good surface but featureless scenery.

Very quiet and dark at night which is a nice change from floodlit sites.

So for some peaceful days in a pretty part of the country well worth a visit.

I believe you can book a jacuzzi to be on your pitch too if that's what floats your boat

We stayed there some years ago at Christmas, we had snow, it was very picturesque

Just up the road from us, been a couple of times out of season and agree it's a very pleasant location and site.

Spoilt for choice for sites in the Peak District.

Thanks for the recommendation. I was looking for somewhere not too far from us for a quick weekend away - had I known about this site I'd have booked it.

Instead we're off to Skelwith Fold at Ambleside, but the Rivendale park is now in the running for a future trip (y)

we got stuck in the snow, had to wait a extra day to get out. Easter 2012
