My auto trail (drop down display unit) reversing camera has stopped working. I’m not in the least technical! Should I find an auto Electician to look for fault ? Or should I invest in twin camera unit? If so what should I buy? I want to see the car I tow when towing

If you explain stopped working...I’m sure someone will have advice.

If your looking at replacements try these recent threads👍🏼

This is the sort of thing you need there are other companies however I have used this one and their products are excellent.😊
BROKEN LINK

Thank you. I can’t get anything on the monitor.. it did show some wavy coloured lines then screen just went blank. I’ve tried using remote on and off and tried using the on off switch on the drop down unit . There doesn’t appear to be any power. Are there any simple checks I can do ?

First up would obviously be the fuse its supplied from on the van, then possibly trace the feed as there could also be an in-line fuse of its own.

If the monitor is powered up check your monitor has the correct source selected....most have two, but only one might have a feed from the camera, hence the blank display

You should also check for power at the camera, if the monitor is getting power.

Is it wired as always on or only when reverse is selected?

What year/model Auto Trail and Is it usual to have the reversing camera on the drop down monitor?

Take the head unit out and have a look at all the connections as one may have come adrift.

On our Autotrail the drop down was to far back to use we had the cameras on the head unit.😊

Thank you. It’s a Cheyenne 696 2009 model. We’ve had it since 2010. Never used reversing camera until we attached car. Picture wasn’t great but it worked well enough to check car was there when we were driving !! Little use each year - but now prospect of other half retiring we plan to get lots of use from her. I’ll check for fuses and loose wires. Thanks again for help, advice and link to helpful threads if we do need to replace / upgrade

Ah we used to have a 2004 Cheyenne 696 special edition on a Merc chassis great van but rolled around a lot.😊
Didn’t have even a decent head unit then and certainly no drop down screen😂

the only thing that drops down in my autotrail is the TV

TCG We have a 2015 Auto-trail tracker the drop down TV was fitted with a extra clip to stop it dropping down
on a recall at about eighteen months old.

Hi Sailor Man,
I've got a 2010 Cherokee with drop down tv/monitor.The reverse camera was never wired to the monitor, when reverse was selected the image appeared on the radio head unit which you could hardly see,so recently wired in a rear view mirror monitor which is 100% better.
How did you 'never use the reverse camera' as is comes on automatically when reverse is selected?
As others have said, check the connections on the back of the head unit,
