Hi, driving back to uk using tunnel next week what test and paperwork do we need to present to whoever.
Thank you.

As far as I know you need a rapid antigen test which needs to be taken 72 hours before your travel - you have to upload a photo of your passport and the result to the manufacturer to verify it. They'll then email you a certificate to confirm the test reading.

If you go to the Eurotunnel website it will tell you what you need to upload to them.

That's incorrect.

You need to order the test to be delivered to your home and you have to take the test by the second day you arrive home.
You have to fill out online the Passenger locator form upto 48 hours before you travel and put the reference number of the test you ordered on it.

That’s my understanding too. But are you going to complete another “sworn statement” when you go from Spain to France?

Did you not look into this before travelling?

I never got asked for mine when I went into France but just to be safe before leaving home I did print off a few copies of the forms needed from Amber & Green countries.
Been to Belgium then France and in Spain now will be back in France next week, no checks anywhere.

Thank you We are driving from Spain through France to euro tunnel taking 5 days to do it so we’ll have book a 2 day test and fill in a locator form.

Has it changed recently?

We ordered two separate test packs prior to our trip. One to do whilst away prior to return (no earlier than 72 hrs prior to travel) and a second test to carry out at home 2days after return.

We're in the process of returning to the UK. We've done the rapid antigen tests and have the results which we need to travel. We also have the reference numbers for the 2 day tests which need to be carried out at home. The reference numbers of the 2 day kits are needed to enter onto the PLF form prior to return.

Yes,you only need plf and to have booked, with qr code, the day 2 lft test now.

Did you not get the answer to this question when you posted on Sept 8th when going to Spain?

Didn’t know I had asked this question before

That explains it... thanks.

The criteria must have changed since we've been away.

We were faffing around yesterday taking the tests, uploading results etc. Didn't need to have bothered!

As has been shown here, you need to check the requirements just before you intend to return as they can change so what you found out a month ago may not be what is actually needed now.

Yes, I should have checked. I bought the correct tests for the situation two months ago and didn't check the current situation... lesson learned. No harm done, except to my patience when trying to upload the necessary photos, etc!

I'm a bit concerned that the original poster hadn't bought the 2 days test prior to travelling. Will this affect his travel? Eurotunnel seems quite clear that the test should have been bought prior to travel. I wonder what happens if the procedure isn't followed?

these things have been changing nearly every week. cant a member ask for confirmation? its better to be sure , even if it upsets some forum member.
Absolutely, why should the OP be given the third degree with evidence of a previous post it’s not a court of law. Just pass by.

I will be on the move shortly, what if you fail the test ? Would you you have to isolate risking a possible overstay? and wouldn’t it be wise to order extra kits as l presume you would have to go through the process again to get the all clear. It all sounds a bit impractical.

You book the Lateral Flow Test BEFORE you enter the UK (or preferably before you leave) so that you can enter the serial number(s) on each passenger form.
We're re-entering the UK from France on 23rd November and I'll be buying my tests next week so that I've plenty of time to complete the Passenger Locator Forms (one each).
The LFTs are delivered to your home the day after you arrive home, usually by DPD or similar. You take the test on day 2 at home and send the results to the test company. Each company has similar processes. If you fail the LFT you get a PCR test (usually free) but you are now at home so easy to self isolate if needed.

Hope that's clear.

No you have to book a lateral flow test for either at home or at a clinic ----- beware because it is a minefield.

We eventually used Dam Health - they seemed efficient and professional we paid £28 to attend our local clinic within two days.

You also need to fill out the online location form including the reference number your testing company will give you.

You need to download all this to Eurotunnel - if not you will need to park up and enter the terminal building for manual checking and to collect a boarding pass.

Outward bound, covid vaccination letter or QR code plus printed out attestation form. Inward, book and pay for lateral flow test and no you can’t use the nhs tests, get your code emailed and fill in your passenger location form 48 hrs before you travel. Have the test delivered to your home the cheapest we found were £20 each and they’re sat there waiting or pay a couple of £’s and get to the clinic within 2 days of arriving back, day you arrive on uk soil is day 0. You have to do the locator form online but you can fill in the best part of it before you leave uk if you set up an account, go on the Gov website if you’re not sure.

Correct. Just one wrinkle that I've found.
When preparing our online account Passenger Locator forms for Eurotunnel to upload before we arrive on 23rd I could not get the XX***ing software to recognise my wife's vaccination QR code. The process went OK on my form but not hers. So now we will have to go into the Calais terminal to manually have her QR code checked by someone at a desk (if we can interrupt their Tik Tok/Facebook session!). We will be using Testing for all at £19 each which is cheaper than most and recommended by Martin Lewis.

How can it be bought before travel if,like me, you are entering UK for the first time. Sounds like it is badly written and means before travelling IN to the UK?

You buy online via their website.
The test is delivered to the UK address that you give when ordering. The package is delivered to that address one day after you arrive in the UK.

You can buy the lateral flow test as you arrive at the tunnel if you wish, they email you the code you need for the plf in minutes with another email to book your test. As ours are at the house we’re having a video call with a Nurse on our second day back then we just pop them in the post, be aware if you make a clinic appointment they’re every 15 minutes and you can’t be late or you get charged. Fingers crossed you haven’t used all your data roaming but that’s another story!
