The good news is that the Chemist in Gravelines east of Calais offers the PCR Covid tests at a cost of 25 Euros per person, 15 minute wait for result given by official paper copy It appears from what we were told that 'not that many' Chemists are offering this service However, when we entered Calais Port this document was of no interest to the guy in the booth at all, not even a cursory glance but the worst thing was that we thought that after exhaustive and careful reading on the net of all the regulations we had not got a Passenger Locator Form This required us to take 1hr 45 minutes to stand by the booth completing the form on one of our smart phones The guy in the booth had not seen or heard about this form himself but was told by 'his Senior' it had to be completed and we had to pay £150 EACH If we refused or were unable to pay this we were to be escorted away from the Port Any thoughts? Mine are not printable

Which pharmacy did you use
I can see 7 listed in that area

Passenger Locator Form was required over a year ago when we were last in France.
After school detention and 500 lines for not knowing.

Richard.
Been a requirement for absolute ages. We were in France in August last year when the requirement to quarantine for 14 days on return was announced so we legged it to Italy in time to beat the deadline. Had a great holiday moving between the Italian, Swiss and German lakes and planned our return via the shuttle - driving through Belgium and France to get to the terminal. We were really concerned about completing the locator form and did so in careful detail to show that we had not been in France when the quarantine requirement kicked in and hadn't stopped in France on the way back.

Was anyone remotely interested in looking at the form? Not at all, despite us volunteering it at every opportunity. Perhaps things are different this year but in the end it appeared entirely superfluous to anything.

Very similar to our trip last year. We ran away to Germany when the France quarantine came in. Filled in the locator forms on our phones. Nobody wanted to see them.

The completion of Passenger Location Forms are randomly sampled, with the imposition of fine for anyone caught not complying

Parmacie du Centre, 2 Rue de Calais, 59820 Gravelines +33.3.28.23.07.23 AND perhaps I should have written MY WIFE had spent exhaustive and careful time reading on the net of all the regulations....

The very same experience for us too when returning from Germany last September. :( Not been back since, and until things get back to some form of normality, we won't be going anytime soon.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

We went to Holland on essential travel a month ago. Both my partner and I "spent exhaustive and careful time on the net reading on the net all of the regulations" - both the UK AND the NL web pages (we both speak/read Dutch), and had printed out innumerable pages and supporting documents. It helped that we both read them because they are complicated and open to interpretation, so two heads were definitely better than one.

Two conclusions:
1. Whatever your read today they will be different tomorrow/next week (except for the passenger locator form)
2. "Required" paperwork obeys the same rules as umbrellas:
  • If you have it, you won't need it/they won't ask for it.
  • If you don't have it then you will definitely need it/be asked for it.

Curious: why did you write "MY WIFE" in capitals?

Can I please ask which country actually wants the form and what type of information do you have to enter, can it be done online & presented on your phone or must you print it. I was aware of the document but having decided we would not travel into the EU last or this year I have not looked in more detail at it, this thread has been really useful for me

Its to enter the UK so Boris wants it....

I take it that was £150 fine for each of you?not a charge for the form🤔

Don’t feel bad, I spend exhausting time looking for things and can’t find them either so am just as useless.

I've also arrived back this week. I have a post on the thread below describing how to get a free return test in the Netherlands.

Covid tests are Free in Netherlands during July and August.

PLFs are mandatory no matter where you are travelling from and indeed have been since last year. You can't miss being informed about these on .gov let alone being strongly reminded by your transport provider...

Eurotunnel actually called us the day before to make sure we were still planning to travel and remind us - returning from France.

Never been called that before ;)

On a similar theme. Mrs Bob and i did all the swotting and reading what was needed for us to leave the UAE spend 11 day's in Frankfurt then onto UK. We even took paid professional advise. So off we go to the airport armed with shed loads of test papers (neg) locator forms blah blah.
Airport check in, NO you are not on, you are not going to Frankfurt.
So back to the digs for another 2 months.
Never did get the money back for the apt we booked and paid for in Frankfurt (€1k). Ah well that's the way the mop flops.

This is the uk locator form both you and your wife must fill in, this form must have the pre booked 2 day PCR test booking reference number on it you and your wife take 2 after returning to the uk.
After the forms are completed and sent a confirmation will be sent to you with a QR code which in my case the uk border control inspected.

I seem to remember this cropping up on our ferry campaign group a couple of weeks ago. The consensus was that this free test wasn't acceptable, will check back but I imagine it was for a UK return.

We had the same. Two calls from eurotunnel to check we knew what we had to do before coming home.

The testing facilities offered are official labs like our NHS ones, not home testing. You get a formal certificate and emailed QR codes etc. I found the whole process easy and convenient and my proof was accepted without question on both sides of the channel.

We are travelling out on the tunnel end of August all booked and outward passenger information completed online, we also have our UK QR vaccination codes. We have booked a return at the beginning of November but may come back a few weeks earlier. My query is, Do I have to complete all the return passenger locator forms and book my day 2 Covid test before I travel out or, do I do this when I am ready to return?

The easy answer is not before you travel out.
The PLF has to be completed 72 hours before your return ferry (or flight) leaves.
You can book the day 2 test anytime up to you needing to complete the PLF as it haas to be shown on the form.
I would advise to start seeking the day 2 test a little earlier as the cheaper suppliers have limited capacity and you might end up having to pay a premium to a more expensive one.

You have a window of 72 hours to complete your PLF before your return to the uk which has to have the order number of the 2 day test on it.
I would wait until nearer your return before ordering, by November now one knows what the rules maybe.

I have a Randox day 2 pcr ready to use on return.
The instructions are to NOT register the test until you have preformed it.
I do have the order number of the test. So I guess I use that.
Also struggling a bit with pcr in Spain prior to return via Santander ferry.
Can be tested in Cordoba at 10.30, but although that will be 3 days before embarking on ferry it will strictly be 76 ish hours or 79 hours before ferry due to leave
Can also be tested in Santander, but a bit squeaky bum as not open until 12.00
Ferry leaves Monday and I shall be in the mountains away from any open chemist for that weekend.

PITA really, but worse case is I bogart the ferry and ride back through France.
