Resealing motorhome - recommendations - Cirencester area (1 Viewer)

I am looking at resealing my Cheyenne sooner rather than later. I am happy to give most things a go when it comes to house and motor DIY, but sealing is another story.... I have done shower trays etc before, but I think a whole motorhome is a little ambitious!

Does anyone have any recommendations for someone that could do this is my area (I am close to Cirencester). Preferably someone mobile.

In some respects you are better off doing it yourself as no one else cares as much as you do about the van. You will go to town belt and braces, even on the niggly bits and make sure its 100%. Sealing joints is easy, it's the prep that takes the time and requires the most care and attention. The only problem with doing it yourself is, you may not be aware of critical areas that an experienced tech guy will, so doing your homework is very important.

I would completely investigate the van, identify the various 'different' joints, do a few easy bits and see if you are happy to carry on.
It's all about technique, the right product and preparation to get a lasting mechanical/cosmetic success.
If you want to get into taking out and re sealing windows etc properly, be careful, that's a whole different ball bag, but just raking out a joint and injecting new sealant is easily done. Once you get the knack and knowledge you will go nuts and seal everything in sight

We had some paintwork down at this place OH-Works.co.uk who are based in Fairford , it’s a body repair specialist that does work on Motorhomes, they may not do this sort of work but there is no harm in asking.

It still seems a little daunting. I think I am comfortable (ish) digging out the obvious places and re-sealing, like around the wheel arch mouldings, between the cab and body etc. But I am mostly interested in sealing the crucial parts that may allow damp in. Specifically, the joins running horizontally along the body. There are no obvious sealant runs here, but I am sure there must be sealant in these joins.

I don't want to go as far as re-sealing windows etc. That is definitely a step too far for me.

A great start would be knowing which type of sealant to use, and what to use as a scraping tool, and whether a bit of fairy liquid with water and your finger to smooth is going to work with this type of sealant?
