Kitchen tap developed a small drip from what looks like joint on tap. 2020 Bessacarr 597. Don’t want same again so was going to fit a decent replacement myself from Screwfix. Fittings look like standard push fits. Not sure pipe size. Anyone had any experience of doing the same? Looks straightforward enough unless anyones had any hiccups doing the same. All advice on sizes, pipes, fittings, decent replacement mixer tap greatly appreciated . 😊

I bought a bog-standard kitchen mixer tap from B&Q when I changed ours.

I used the the fittings that were already there (Swift 2007), the tap was a direct replacement for what I assume was the original one and just worked so can’t advise on sizes. To be honest I didn’t check, just went and bought the tap and didn’t have a problem - good luck.

The good news is it appears not to be a microswitch tap so the world is your lobster! :giggle:

I've changed taps before and it's not difficult but can be tricky depending on how good the access is!

The pipework on the van will be 12mm semi rigid unless your very lucky and the tails will swop from tap to tap your going to need a 12mm to 15mm reducer ,assuming the taps you buy have 15mm connections , and shorts of pipe to go between reducer and the pushfit fittings if your stuck i can lookin my shed see if i have any ofcuts of 12mm

When you've done the tap, you should be aware that this kind of thing is very rare in ordinary kitchen taps. The difference is, a motorhome tap can freeze with water inside it, which will split the tap - the damage to yours is typical. If the MH is not in use in freezing weather, at the very least pump out the water until no more comes through, hot or cold, and leave both hot and cold open (mixers in the centre position)

Thankyou. I’m going to strip it down to see if the cartridge has maybe caused the issue then I’ll check out what’s available if it is intact the tap. Grateful for the advice and offer

Thanks for the advice. I’m surprised that there’s an issue as I’d done that with the taps when not in use. We were at Chester for 3 nights over new year and it was only on the third day that the drip started. It’s making me think it may be an internal cartridge problem so I’ll have a look there first. Kinda surprised that a Reich tap would have an issue like this.

I froze and split mine last year! Replaced with a screw fix jobbie, for once it was as easy as it looked!

Sounds like it might be worth replacing this tap with a decent metal one regardless
