Hi Funsters ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹ D/H has been looking at motorhomes again wondering if we need more space to fulltime. I guess more is better!! We've seen a Burstner Elegance 820g (I think) that he really liked due to the coating underneath meaning no rotten wood and a great layout. But the current owner took the drop down cab bed out. Now I suffer with hip problems and Colin with his back so from time to time 2 double beds is vital. The dinette makes into a large single but we really don't want to be making up beds.
What do you reckon the chances are of finding a replacement bed? The owner told the firm that removed it to chuck it and I googled it and my search turned up zero for sale.
But I know you all know everything on here ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†
BTW fridge now working on gas I our current motorhome so thank you John & everyone else for your tips on that ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Probably better to look for another Elegance which is complete with the drop down bed. Think it's unlikely you'll find one for sale to be fitted back into the one he's looked at.

I thought you'd say that. Although I can understand the current owner not wanting the bed and it gives much more sense of space in the cab, I bet it'll be a difficult sell. I think it's been advertised for ages and already reduced once.

Has the owner replaced the bed with matching cupboards? If so and heโ€™s done a good job then it would probably be more sellable/desirable as it is now.

You would stand a better chance finding a replacement bed from a Hymer, there was a workshop that used to do the conversion specialising on Hymers that had a stock of beds removed from vans. Even then, you are talking the proverbial fertiliser from a rocking horse. Having said that, the same bed system is used for multiple vans over a range of years, but each is cut and tailored to fit a specific van. Width, length and drop of most are very specific.

Some electric operated ones can be adjusted for the drop and can be adjusted with spacers, however it is a big job and they are near impossible to source.

Best advice, is find a van that has not been messed with

That sounds good advice John ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘the owners didn't replace the bed with storage, just left it as it is with bed removed. It's a waste of a good space now really.
