I'm looking at replacing my leisure batteries before I go away. There is a German brand gel under the drivers seat but nothing telling me any info about the battery.

Someone must have added this under the sofa at some point but no markings on it at all.

Any idea what kind of battery this is?

I am limited to battery dimensions for the one under the seat so would I just be as well finding one that fits under the seat and simply buying 2 with the 2nd to replace this one in above photo?

So how do you know it is German?

It was eating a bratwurst. The one under the drivers seat has a message in German saying it's gel.

The one photo'd is under the sofa with nothing on it at all.

I'm guessing you have removed the one under the sofa to look all round it?

Not yet. Reckon it's worth seeing if any info on the other side?

If there are no vent tubes I would say it's also a gel which would be sensible.

Measure the room under the seat and buy the two biggest that will fit in there together.
Only buy 'named' quality batteries - There are too many crap batteries with fancy stickers out there.

I've got a bit of power unit envy there. Very tidy install (y)

I'm going to the 'love touring' exhibition on Thursday so hoping I can pick up some batteries there.

But if I don't what are some of the names to look at?

Buy them online from Tanya or Battery Mega store. Much cheaper and delivered to your door.

I have been in discussion with aandncaravans regarding the same issue. They advised fitting an exide gs900 gel battery. Bought from Tanya - by far the cheapest. it is 80ah.

I think you could get a couple of fag papers in there. So what is this "how much" thing you go on about. Clearly you are not averse to spending a few quid???

Don't take too much notice of me as I am even tighter than you.:(

I very much doubt that only coming from Lincolnshire  I have now reached Olympic standards. :clap2:

I am happy to spend my money on mi van ---- BUT I have to be sure its the correct product and at the cheapest possible price. :drinks:

Have you been to this years Lincoln xmas market? We always enjoy it. - I very rarely buy anything of course :Eeek:

It will depend on how long you intend to keep your van but I'd buy quality over price.
Get two the same from a reliable supplier - one who will not be selling any old stock. Check dimensions first.
Warranty on batteries is next to pointless IMHO as you'd have to prove that you'd not mis-treated them.
You're unlikely to discover any weakness during the first year, anyway.
For batteries, the heavier the better, unfortunately.

I will have you know I actually originate from Brighton, only been in Lincolnshire for about 30 years, so still treated as an outsider.

Cant say that I have ever wanted to go to the market, not our thing really, plus it is nearly 100 mile round trip.

I agree on your approach to value for money, never pay over the odds for anything. Although we are starting to spend a bit more lately, apparently you can't take it with you and 'they' definitely aren't getting it.

By the way, nice battery setup, very tidy. Certainly better than some of those spaghetti photos I have seen posted.
