so, my 'unlucky mirror' became doubly unlucky yesterday when on top of the battering it got from a builders wagon I hit, (I mean hit me, ahem) it was smacked again by a car going past my stationary van when parked up. I know it was a car because of his mirror glass in the road and limited size of the plastic debris, bar stewards !
anyway, I've removed the side window blind from the inside and I can now see the mirror bolts, but I need to lift out the window/mirror controls to unplug the mirror connection. I have a plastic trim lifter wedged under the back edge, ie closest to the rear of the vehicle and I can lift it a few mm, then as advised via something I read online, I have another lifter under the back corner on the side, the nearside so to speak... and it resists such that it feels like something will break before it pops out, are these things just on damn tough clips ? I'd rather get some more info before I break a pricey part.... the mirror was bad enough !

any info would be appreciated

Paul

I had a French lorry driver smash my passenger mirror and when I searched for any info about replacement, I didn't find much so documented my replacement here. I also referred to a thread by @Riverbankannie which detailed the fitting of Proplates but also showed the removal of the door trim, see here.

I hope these threads will help you.

Cheers

Trevor

thanks Trevor, I'm not sure your info shows the removal of this part, but upon looking at various photos of said part online, I can now see where the clip is located, I'll have another go at it later, and perhaps try and get a knife under it to press the clip, but it is indeed on that rear edge, and I'm just being to gentle with it :)

Have a look on utube for videos explaining how to change mirrors and removing the mirror controls .

sorted it, it was just really stiff. several layers of masking tape to avoid marking the adjacent plastic, and a couple of trim lifters aided by a metal knife, and it popped out ! mirror replacement complete, bar for the easy task of re-mounting the side blind, a job well done, happy with that
