We are just enjoying our 4th. week with her when --
Some lady kindly stove my offside front in.
We were stationery at a junction - Kim is looking left and I'm looking right -- at this little red car
hurtling towards me.
She didn't see a huge great Hymer motorhome - she just didn't see us as her windscreen was dirty.
Nobody stopped to offer as a witness so I just hope her story doesn't change when the police interview her.
Wonder how long before our beautiful B654SL comes back

Sorry to hear about your accident, hope you have your van back soon and without too much stress.

Did you take any photos of the vehicle positions on the road?
These would probably help if she did change her mind.

hope you have more luck than me, took 6 months to get my swift kontiki repaired

So sorry to hear your tail of woe :xsad:
I hope your Hymer is repaired and returned soon. :xThumb:

Oh my god... what terribly bad luck.

I do so hope it is all sorted out for you quickly and without hassle.

It is a fine line we all tread...

JJ
:xsmile:

Nooooo!!! You poor souls. What a shock!
Are you both OK? (& the car driver...)
Hope all works out well for you and you aren't MH-less for long.

Oh no....... so sorry but glad no one was hurt.

Hope it is all soon sorted. Didn't the police attend - I thought they would have checked for alcohol consumption?

Sorry to hear that you could have done with one of Jaws dash cams for evidence good luck with your claims hope neither of you were hurt?:xThumb:

Nasty.....I hope no one was hurt. Good luck with getting your MH back quickly.

Glad no one was hurt but still a nasty thing to happen. Dirty windscreen? If she couldn't see a bloody big motorhome how would she have seen a cyclist? Or a pedestrian? Unforgivable.

As winter sets in, can I make a plea to always clear ALL snow off your windscreen and windows? A friends husband was killed several years back by a driver who hadn't cleared his windscreen thoroughly.

So sorry to hear this. I think I may be tempted to KILL anyone who did that to our motorhome after all the work we've had done on it. It's old - 20 years old - and the insurance would never pay out what it is worth to us.

We hope that everything will be sorted out to your satisfaction.

Shit happens.... Don t expect it back in a hurry. At times like this you find out just how good your insurance Company actually is... Dont stand for any nonsense, choose your own repairer based on feedback..

i know for a fact that local decent motorhome/caravan repairers have a waiting list in months before they can fit in an accident repair. being a hymer, you will need a specialist. expect to be without the van for 6 months.
a good insurer will allow you to rent a motorhome for any planned holidays. hopefully you have legal cover too

Bugger

As said this is what dash cams are made for

I would be expecting a replacement M H of similar size and quality as a temporary replacement until yours is fixed.

If you don't ask you don't get and there should be no charge to yourself

Good luck

Could ask if all the 'law stuff' was complied to at the time, there is nothing better than evidential material but when personally involved it is difficult to know what to do for the best..

Good luck

Really sorry to hear about this and how flipping senseless and annoying:cry:.

Hope you don't have too much of a hassle getting sorted and good as new again:xThumb:.

Quite! provided its the 3rd parties fault and you have booked outings, camp sites etc your insurance claims handler can pass any charge for the hire of a MH onto the 3rd party insurer

My commiserations, I think everyone else has said it all and I hope you get it back quickly. I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping that you will keep us posted with the detail of how your insurers perform and how the subsequent repair went. Good Luck.

Really sorry to hear this! :xangry:
The poor dear was probably thinking of something far more important than driving!
I purchased a "Black Box" windscreen camera before I collected my M/H. So glad I did!
I wish you well with a speedy repair!

Yes we got the photos but I am always worried when insurance companies get involved. Lawyers who argue the toss at £200 per hour - scarey

Thanks for everyones kind comments. We can't do anything yet as the young lady ahs not reported the accident to her insurance company yet.
this has really made both Kim and I mad.
May I just mention Graham from Towbars2towcars in Grimsby. An absolute gentleman of the highest order.
We were on our way to his premises with our two Picantos. We needed the tow system on the older car swapped onto the new one.
I phoned him while we were with the police/ambulance to let him know the situation and that we may not make our appointment.
He came straight over, organised the Fire Service to separate the vehicles - insisted the tow truck take our Motorhome to his Workshop and settled her in the warm under cover with ELC.
He obviously knows what he is talking about re A class coach builts and today showed me exactly what needs to be done, the amount of damage etc.
Most of the damage is to the front below windscreen level, mechanically drive shaft steering and column plus all the front panels. I have asked him to sort an estimate and will try and insist he does the work.
Finally - I have used a Claim Management Company years ago and my son has recently so tomorrow they will get a call.
sorry such a long diatribe - again thanks to every one and luckily nobody was seriously hurt.
A motorhome means so much more than any 'jam jar'

She doesnt have to report it, you can contact HER insurance company and report it for her

I know as i had to do this a couple of years ago when my car was hit by a third party.
I gave them a couple of days and nothing had happened so i sorted it :)

Have you contacted the police?

Have you been to the hospital for a check up, even if you feel fine IF you get problems in the future and haven't been you will struggle with a further claim

Not trying to be pessimistic just covering all the bases :xThumb:

Well I nearly got a new Jag as a bonnet mascot this morning...... he turned out of a farm lane without looking, gave me a one finger salute and then went white when he saw the dash cam. Local friendly policeman (we still have them) has been round for a quiet word.

Nice one !

Might be an idea to carry a pair of nicely pressed underpants in the M/H to offer those who sh.t themselves when they see the camera. :xrofl:
