Looking at the Ventusky website heavy rain has already fallen and more expected. Worst area seems to be a band stretching from Montpellier through Nîmes to Avignon. The hourly forecast shows 25mm of rain in places. Totals could be much higher by the end of the day.I see there is a RED warning for the Gard department. Nimes, Ales etc. with Montpelier close by..
Take care for heavy rain, flash flooding etc...
25mm is not a lot, so they must be expecting there to be a lot more, perhaps very localised. That area is renowned for its steep sided V shaped valleys where the water just takes away anything in its path in the valley bottom.Looking at the Ventusky website heavy rain has already fallen and more expected. Neither did I, but I reckon I got the general gist.Couldn't understand a word of that .
Couldn't understand a word of that .
Managed to get the gist, but felt like the cyclist being detached from the Peloton; the pace is picking up, the effort is increasing, but the gap between me and the Leaders is growing by the second ... By the time I had translated [mentally] the voiceover, the rain had stopped, the sun had emerged, and we are in tomorrow ...Couldn't understand a word of that .
But you can't compare AppleStarted to rain here at Gruissan a little while ago.
Still very light but with a few distant rumbles of thunder.
Watching online a storm is gradually making its way north from the Spanish border and is now close to Perpignan with the occasional flash closer to us.
Ventusky weather app shows we might just get the edge of the storms but most will miss us……….we hope.
We have been here many times with thunder storms all around but not overhead.
The A9 flooding seems to have been between Nimes and Montpelier where Apple maps are showing a lot of road closures.
Richard.
Here's another one. The main motorway along the south coast of France into Spain... I'm sure there'll be a camper or two stuck in there somewhere...
We're at Saint Flour tonight. Storms forecast for the early hours of tomorrow.
We had planned on going to Millau tomorrow, and then to Marseillan Plage for a week. Keeping a careful eye on the apps.
Reminded me the years in France how many vehicles I saw with hailstone damage, seen quite a few.I wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of those hail stones!
