Pretty certain that that engine is exactly the same in the Citroen relay, Peugeot boxer and fiat Ducato so that broadens your options.

Apologies, my father posted the thread and is completely new to forums so missed the pleasantries!
They've had no luck with 2 local mechanics who were looking to help but have not got back to us.
It is a 1997 2.5l Citroen engine, turbo diesel. The engine number has been impossible to find so the number above was provided by a Citroen dealer.
They are looking for any recommendations for either a recon or new engines.
This is following a cracked cylinder head.

Back in the day (horse drawn trams,) it wasn't unusual for engines with different capacities to 'share' cylinder heads.

Just a suggestion. Check the bore of the 2.5 an compare it with others in the sevel family. You never know, you make get a pleasant surprise.
