Good Afternoon All. Hoping you’re all having a lovely Sunday.

We are looking at going to Spain over the Xmas period. 2 adults and our pooch. Can anyone recommend places to stay? Somewhere with a bit going on maybe.

Many Thanks. Much appreciated ?

AVJ. ... interested in how you getting there, ferry to Spain and drive or quick ferry/shuttle and drive all the way? Considering it ourselves. Don’t have pet passport etc sorted though. How long does all that take? Tia

"You cannot return to the UK until 21 days after your pet's rabies vaccination is given when travelling from EU and listed countries. This means that it is sensible to get your pet's passport at least a month before travel. "

We are currently living in Germany so we will drive down. We already have a pet passport. I would recommend getting the pet passport bit started sooner rather than later as it can take a bit of time in between jabs etc. Your pooch will require a rabies jab also.

We wouldn't touch the place with a barge pole, but that's a personal feeling (and experience). But Benidorm and it's surrounds is a highly popular place with many motorhomers including Funsters, as I'm sure you'll find out from responses. Seems to have a microclimate of it's own (i.e. warmer and dryer) and there's oodles to do socially.

But unless you book NOW you'll have great difficulty finding a site anywhere near the popular places.

Pet Passports, from scratch to include rabies protection can take up to two months, depending on your vet - some are beter than others at getting the necessary lab test done.

Many Thanks. We are currently living in Germany. Already have a pet passport. We were thinking more Alicante way. Not as far as Benidorm!

Javea is quite popular. Has two camp sites but don't have experience of either.

Alicante is further than Benidorm but only about 50 miles or so.
We have booked Imperium Alicante which is at Villajoyosa just below Benidorm but before Alicante.
Had to book the site through the Camping Club though as they seem to have most of the pitches.

Sorry.... I was meant to say Javea!

Plenty of pitches in Benidorm in winter no need to book. Only need to book christmas and new year. There is something for everybody in Benidorm.

What lab test? We've never had one done? Is this only if we've left the EU?

MY vet advised if we traveled to Europe after the 31st oct, then we would be OK with just the current pet passport for the dog with current rabies jabs. If we went after the 31st we would need a blood test. Which needs to be 3 months in advance?
So if we went before the 31st oct we can get back anytime, deal or no deal. If we go after the 31st and there is no deal then you need the blood test.

Benidorm is closer to Germany ! But they are walking distance apart.

And excellent if you want a town that is fully open for visitors. Some FUNsters go year after year, Oct to Mar. They book next holiday before they leave.
