Go on then, I dare ya!

Anybody got any experience of retro-fitting them?

Discussed them yesterday with an auto electrician and he says its the way to go to cure the piss-poor light thrown off by the current projector and Halogen bulb combo...

This is the company many of us who rally use in wakefield use for upgraded bulbs.
I use Osram night breakers, other use the Phillips.

the only downside is they are not as long lasting as standard bulbs.

I think LED headlights are treated the same as HID and if not done properly they are now an MOT failure.

Basically you can’t just stick a brighter bulb in where an H7 Hologen one used to be.

I agree which is what osram night breakers are, none led.

many LED bulbs are rubbish when fitted to a old lights as reflectors and lens not designed to work with the lamp correctly.

It also makes them very dangerous by dazzling oncoming traffic.

I too looked at led replacement and shied away when found they illegal to retrofit.
Ended up with Philips Racing Vision in both van and car.
Whoa what a difference to standard halogen.

ABD.co.uk (Auto Bulbs Direct) Check out there Website.
Have used this Co for five or six years for car and Motorhome bulbs and had no Mot issues!
Have usually offered best advice.

no Mot issues!
Maybe not..but surely they are still illegal if retrofitting them to a vehicle that is not "type approved" to have them fitted??

The OP is looking for recommendations for LED bulbs for projectors, NOT vehicles.

I can assure you my vehicle is 100% type approved (Subaru) !! The particular led bulbs fitted by me are NOT E MARKED!!! but still pass all MOT requirements. The MOT was carried out at Main Dealer.
Not sure if anyone has ever been prosecuted for using non E marked bulb!! But who knows!!!

So correct me if wrong but are you saying your car has Led headlights as standard fit but you have replaced them with non approved led bulbs???
If so not exactly what OP was asking!!!

You are wrong I didn’t say that!! They replaced halogen as the original post is looking to do.🤔

Oki doki.......sorry you feel that way.

No-one checks E markings on anything. The MoT Inspector cannot dismantle any part of the car. If the headlamp dip beam pattern falls within the requirements the vehicle will pass the MoT. The MoT doesn't even check for appropriate markings on registration plates (though they are obviously clearly visible).

After market Hids got outlawed a couple of years ago (for all the right reasons of glare etc), I had some fitted and whilst they were brilliant for me...probably not so much for others (zero beam pattern).

Aftermarket LED headlight bulbs are fully legal IF they are below 2,000 Lumens.

I’ve found some really really good H4 LED bulbs, but they’re blooming expensive, have a superb beam pattern, are bright as a button, don’t dazzle others etc. I’ll find out later this week if they are MOT passable, but I’m fully aware that at 4,000 Lumens they are not legal from a Construction & Use perspective.
