The rear Locker on our 125 has a “stay” which holds it in a horizontal position only. Reaching into the far recesses of the Locker to bring out items is a pain in the neck, the back and other lower parts of the anatomy owing to the stooped position necessary to get under the hatch.

Does anyone know of a way to secure the hatch in a vertical position, ie parallel to the rear panel pointing upwards bearing in mind the nature of the back panel. I understand that magnetic catches etc can place strain on the panel when trying to disengage them.

Apologies for the reflections on the rear panel in the picture, it’s a beautiful, sunny day here. I must have cleaned it well!

Thanks for that, I am concerned that, if the rear panel is not “strengthened” behind the catch, screwing to the panel itself may cause problems, delamination for example.

I am aware that the magnetic securing device on our habitation door cannot be retro-fitted to previous models as it requires a strengthener within the wall.

Mick and Mu are you therefore saying that you want something that is only connected/screwed to inside the locker by the hinges?

No, just hoping for ideas from anyone who has had the same problem. It’s not the end of the world, just an inconvenience, so don’t want to cause problems by putting strain on the skin of the rear panel needlessly.

PS

Mick and Mu?

I used one half of magnetic catch which reduced the attraction power. It releases very easy so no Syrian on panel

Thanks Terry, where did you source it, and did you screw or glue?

I have the same problem on my Burstner. In fact, just had new locker door put on after attempted break in some time ago.. Know exactly where you are coming from, especially when trying to reach to the back. The locker goes under the bed. I used to have a hooked pole to reach in to get stuff from the back becausee the locker door inhibited me.

Yes, exactly our problem. I am fed up of pushing up the door into the vertical position and it dropping down onto my head while I am leaning in. The only possible good thing is that it might knock some sense into me! :giggle:

See pictures I used original holes and a galvanised washer

You say you used original holes so, presumably, something was there previously. What was it?

Thank you for the pics.

It was a plastic push to click in clip was always too hard to clip it up and undo. The magnetic one is easy to use and been on for about three years. It’s worked very well for me, one of the best things I fitted.

Thanks again. Unfortunately I don’t have that type of clip fitted, just the horizontal stay.

I believe that the rear panel behind the clip was strengthened by a spreader board. I don’t have that so am reluctant to screw a clip into the panel. However, that, or using an adhesive, seems to be the best answer.

The magmatic clip takes less pressure / force to hold and release than the original. I don’t know if panel was reinforced, didn’t appear to be, but I did use adhesive as well to secure it, more as a sealant than securing it.

It take very little attraction to hold the door upright and as yet it’s not been blown down be wind

Think that is the way I will go, thanks for all the info.

Can you remember where you got the magnetic catch?

I think I got it online it comes in two parts both are magnets but I only use one half and a galvanise penny washer
