It looks nice but I’d worry about the heat generated and it catching fire!

The two cases I’ve made in the past were all metal, though one had a perspex window with a light inside to show off the insides

Nah! it looks nice but it's not the best idea to have a case made of wood, don't forget about cooling system. but you can use liquid heating system but I think wood construction will increase the temperature.
