Please keep an eye out for this very rare Mototrek pane van with slide out, stolen local to me. It may soon be a different colour but with the slide out, it is something you will notice

This morning our motor home was stolen from our drive way in the New Forest. As it is very unusual as it is a moto trek with a pop out side I was hoping if anyone sees it for sale they would remember this post and send me a message. I guess they will spray it and market it as a normal fiat but if anyone sees a motor home that looks like a blue horse box please let me know. I know the odds are low but you never know …….reg is YJ15KHL

If anything like when our caravan was stolen it will be on it's ay to Northern Ireland where it will be driven across the border and then exported without question, ours was found at the border !!

How many ports are there that serve Northern Ireland from mainland UK?

The cost of spares and no availability means it will be in a thousand pieces now, they aren't interested in its value as a motorhome, to difficult to sell just take the spares money and run.

Think it's only Liverpool and Cairnryan but dependant upon the dimensions of the motorhome it could, potentially, fit in a shipping container opening up other ports.

I will keep my eye out its very distinctive, the rotten thievin sods

Braw looking van too. . Stranraer has closed and the business transferred to Cairnryan (7 miles up the road) where there are two terminals ( P&O and Stena).

It seems nowhere is safe. Another from a private driveway. They are so brazen, so organized. They can pounce anywhere. Surely they'll overstretch and get caught?

There is not enough police to do anything about stolen vehicles ,unless that is they just coincidentally drop on them. Vans are insured ,no one is injured, so from a police perspective there are more serious "crimes" to follow through. Lots of vehicles out there without tax ,insurance ,big fines for the coffers. A returned van brings in no revenue.

i agree, they also remove the cab and chassis that has the vin and chassis number stamped in,and reverse a bought one under the rear and re join it, repaint the cab, and will almost get full price for it once registered as a motorhome with dvla,it is quite identifiable so as you say it may well end up in a chop shop and sold for parts

yes dorwyn you are right, but when they do get caught they only get a fine or a community sentence, unless they are caught at it then they dont charge them with the theft of it, just handling stolen goods! they plead guilty to handling and mitigate their circumstances.. ( well your honour my client hasnt been in any trouble for at least a month now, he has some non diagnosed conditions and learning difficulties, he is a very caring person who cares for his nan, and does her shopping and has had a difficult up bringing, and the 750 previous convictions, which goes some way to explaining his behaviour on this occasion which must account for something, so i would suggest some scrambler bike and cannabis therapy to help him through the trauma of this court hearing ) then basically let off to continue their crime wave:notworthy:

I have had a transit nicked from in front of me while I was loading it at the back, never heard of again, also know people who have had landrovers pinched out of the farm yard, and only ever parts been found.

Cause it is they don't mind if they make 5 grand out of parts, it's all money for nowt, do another next week ,almost no risk after half an hour when it's cut up, better than trying to sell it as a motorhome where anyone can recognise it.

Has anyone on here bought a motorhome that was found to be stolen?

I read about this on Facebook and it was an aggravated theft by 3 balaclava clad men who attacked her husband.

Probably already got a customer who wanted an engine or something.

You may well be right but aggravated theft seems high risk for a few thousand.
