Arrived at Black Knowle yesterday around 1330 for 4 nights, only 4 pitches left and we ended up with the last one, which we didn't like.

Prior to arrival we had a warning light flag a problem on our drive down. I established it was OK to drive on but with a loss of power and had arranged for breakdown to meet us at site around 1500.

So unhappy with pitch and potential problem with MHome we asked wardens if we could wait to pay after breakdown had assessed the van. They said we must make a decision on what to do by 1500, subsequently breakdown advised arrival time 1615.

We also asked wardens if they would let us know which pitches might be available in the morning, NO they wouldn't.

So they pressurised us to decide stay 1 night and loose rest of booking or pay for 4 nights. Problem was if we did latter and MHome had to be taken away we would loose money.

If we paid for 1 night and being unable to find another site, we would then go home and loose money on our next site this coming Sunday.

We argued the point that had we arrived later the booking would still be available. They would not accept that.

So we paid for 1 night as we were annoyed with the wardens and actually we felt the site was too "crammed" with pitches, even fitting pitches in spaces where you wouldn't have expected them but we would have stayed if van had been OK and we could have swapped pitches. This morning quite a few had been vacated.

We however found a site at Sparkford, to save wasting Sundays booking but alas not a lot to do here.

So peeeeeed off to say the least, complaints have gone in to CMC already but it has spoilt our week away.

To top it off our daughter is sending us wonderful photos of her trip around the NC500.

Sympathise with you but we all know the Camc is now a business out to make money and you had a pitch booked which even quite late on in the day you could not decide if you wanted it or not..
Excuses mean nothing to them.. you booked, arrived, and you pay.. simple.
They did not want the possibility of a vacant pitch for 4 nights.!

I'd have just ignored them until the van was assessed.
You are right, hindsight a wonderful thing, but Management and I were both wound up they wouldn't let it rest. 😭😭😭

My understanding is you can check into a C&MC site up to 17:00\18:00 and sometimes later with a pre-phone call so can't understand why they demanded you check in by 15:00.

Obviously, you wouldn't be able to go onto a pitch prior to checking in so would have to arrange with breakdown company attendance off site.

I think that may have been an option but, being helpful is another. Cheers

Further to me starting this post on Thursday things took slight turn for worse today.
On leaving Sparkford to drive to site near Poole the warning light came back on and then real power loss on a hill. Managed to get over that then, further on, right in middle of 3 way traffic light on a hill, I got stuck, no power at all. Cars queueing up behind, to side and in front of me. Management got out to go and inform drivers of problem.

I then turned engine off and on again, I had power so was able to drive on, PHEW!!! OH sh...... t, forgot to pick up management. 🤔🤔🤔

We then decided to drive home and forgo our next site, so we lost our money anyway. We got home without any problem but warning light stayed on.

Need to find somewhere to repair it. Not a great week away.

Sparkford, I seem to remember that is the home of Haynes car manuals an a rather splendid motor museum definitely worth a visit https://www.haynesmuseum.org/
