France has been getting some long awaited and needed rain at last, the trouble is we're in it. At Camping St Claire Nuefchatel en bray at the moment thunder & lightning last night and poured down but ok at the moment but forecast not good. Off to Falaise tomorrow then down to Le Lude in the Loire. After that dunno yet. It's great to be over here once again.

yep forecast doesn't look too good for the next week or so. Think will be heading south earlier than was expecting.

We're due to arrive in France (Calais) on Monday.

Was intending to head along the west coast towards Normandy, then further afield, not sure what to do at the moment.

We’re east of Bordeaux and waiting for the rain to start this PM. Should have started early this morning but hasn’t. Currently blue skies and for the first time in weeks a cool breeze.

Here in the Charente-Maritime, near St Jean d'Angely, we had a couple of heavy showers during the night but no wind or storms. After weeks & weeks of drought and excess heat, now an empty well and hosepipe bans it is quite a relief. Have a lovely holiday.

We are hoping to be in gravelines,Tuesday then head east for astart then down to the bottom just into Italy, ventamiglia for the market the following Friday not this Friday.

Just off the N10 limalonges
Sounded like hail stones last night

We are near Jumieges and it lashed down all night, showers today

We had rain, lightning and thunder at 4.40 this morning. I went down and unplugged the Livebox as they can be fried if the lines are hit. Only had 3mm of rain.
This is the strikes in France over the last 24 hours.

We were in Le Lude earlier this week. The municipal site is lovely and less than €2 more than the CCP aire.

We had thunder and heavy rain last night at Fecamp and we're at Le Treport now where it's overcast.

Had to curtail the last visit to France unexpectedly. Back on Tuesday, so obviously the weather's changing. Plan is to go to the static for a couple of days weeding and fettling, then look at the weather map and head towards the warmer bits. Agde looks promising.

Which weather maps do you good people us? I’m new to Ventusky, which I quite like, and then all the usual suspects. Would like a simple one where I can keep an eye on incoming rain over a period of does. Any suggestions?

We will be, all being well, in France on Monday, have prepared by getting myself a new waterproof coat 😂

I use Wunderground as my personal weather station submits data to it.

Within ventusky from the internet not the app you can view "radar" which gives you cloud in 10 minute gaps and goes about an hour in advance

We are getting away with it atm in Brittany.....but not for long

We’re currently at Beaulieu sur Dordogne and had torrential rain and a thunderstorm from 7:00 to 10:00 today. Love thunderstorms because they remind me of my childhood in the Stormberg mountains near Queenstown.
Has cleared the air too as it had become unpleasantly humid. Now forecast a week of cooler weather with some rain and possible storms. On Sunday, we head down to Marseillan Plage taking at least two days to get there as it’s raining there too until a week today.
Have fun and enjoy the near empty sites now that the French school holidays are over.

We are at the municipal site in La Flèche, ACSI rate 14 euro including lovely swimming pool. Short walk to town. Lots of lightning overnight, rain this afternoon. Moving on further south tomorrow

Arrived in Angers today, had thunderstorms now under the canopy listening to the rain. Was similar in Dinan a couple of days ago.
So what’s the consensus on weather sites?

It’s raining with thunder here in Saumur. Was beautiful this morning. Currently sampling some vin blanc. We bought 12 bottles from our favourite vineyard in Cheverny.

I think The Weather Channel takes some beating.

Was just recommended web version of Ventusky by suavecarve, after a bit of playing I found it to be excellent for looking at the rain patterns over the following 10+ days. Easy to identify the wet and dry areas.

We travelled from Moux en Morvan to Ganny sur Loir this morning and passed through quite a good storm. Now as we sit here on the Aire it's going very black to the south east. I doubt we will have another storm before dark.
FYI for those who like airs both of these are good and free and with services. No DoD at Ganny, but free EHU plus WC at both.

You can change the 3 hour view to one hour as well for when you're planning going out

Had a short drive today not much rain and 25c. View from my pitch, where am I?
