Water pump remains on due probably to faulty micro switch on a Hymer van 2014.Replaced the toilet sink tap as that seemed the culprit. The new replacement needs holding down to keep switched off. The old one is too rusty under the blue/red cover to investigate. Despite only one year old.
Laughably we have a kitchen tap that won't swith on and a bathroom tap that won't stich off. Cheap products. Purchased the taps from Brownhills parts store. The original Hymer ones failed and also rusty. Are there better quality micro switch taps out there?

That is a Reich Vector tap.

The rusty screw under the cap only screws into nylon so even though it looks rusty it's easy to remove. I replaced mine with stainless steel screws.
The microswitch rarely fails the wire either breaks or corrodes and breaks where it connects to the switch.
One of mine broke off at the switch, I cut back the soft plastic (it's a dual molding of soft & hard plastic) soldered a new wire on and coated it in epoxy glue.

The one that won't switch of probably just needs taking apart and reassembling, the switch has normally closed contacts so when the lever is down in the off position it holds the switch open (that confused me the first time I rewired one). Need to be very careful on assembly of how you route the wires or you will be repairing it again after a couple of weeks (how do I know this?).
If you need a new micro switch they are £15 Leisure Shop Direct stock them.

Why did MH move to microswitch from pressure activating?
Seems a backward step to me?

Not sure it’s such a backward step. Our Autosleeper had pressure activated system That always needed adjusting, our Burstner has micro switches. It seems a much better system to me.

I have an old Sureflo pump outside but next to water tank. To my mind a single pressure activated switch, easily accessible, easily serviced and replaced.... as opposed to multiple switches in multiple taps? See what I mean?

Thanks
He didn't Hymers are submerssible pump with microswitched taps.
Thanks. I have copied that info for future use when we finally get to see our son again. He is a electronics engineer so will get him to take a look. Maybe upgrade the wiring on all the taps?

I have got used to how to change the taps after going through five in three years. What manufacturers other than Hymer use a different make of micro switch tap?

The pressure operated pumps will flood your van if there is a leak in the pipes to the taps, so not a very fail safe option.

We used to have a pressure activated one in our previous Adria, but have microswitches in the Hymer. The main advantage is the submersible pump in the Hymer. So much quieter than the on board one. We can now flush the toilet on our nightly calls of nature without waking each other.
