I’m a newbie
Hi guys
you will appreciate that there is no stock anywhere on this planet to go and physically have a look at the vans. So I’m relying on the t’internet. We saw the vantage and ih , very impressed but very expensive, at the Motorhome show but would like you guys to tell me which other brands do the U lounge so that I can have a peak. I’ve tried google but there are so many unknown to me brands. Would really appreciate your help in pointing to the right direction. Thanks in advance.

There was the Peterborough motorhome show last weekend, and Vantage were there. Sorry, I didn't look closely because I am not lookig for a new van. However, there are plenty of Motorhome shows around - Stoneleigh is next 25-27 June, then about 2 a month till September. Go and look at Vans!

Auto-Trail V-Line 635SE sport.
AT generally get a bad press on here, but we are on our second V-Line, and love them. Good value as well👍

Thanks Nigel. I will take a look at them.

The IH brand does hold it’s resale values though and in the meantime you have a very nice van to use. The U seats/beds are the most comfortable I have found.

Have a look at Consort motorhomes. If I were buying now they would be top of my list. It's been set up by the people who started up Vantage and as motorhomers themselves (they went travelling for a few years in their van when they sold Vantage) they seem to have really thought about the little tweaks for a van layout, and base pricing appears quite sensible.

IH are well worth a look

Don’t have one myself but had them on my shortlist. Decided against U shaped rear lounge in the end. Otherwise think there’d be on on our drive.

We have a ih and absolutely love the rear lounge, ideal for two people, maybe not for 4.

When we were last at a show I noticed that Devon are also doing a nice rear lounge conversion and I quite liked it too.

I'm fairly sure autosleeper do a rear u lounge too, but could be mistaken on that, we'd looked at so many options before buying our ih

Since Bobby-gg mentioned Devon, here's a thread of mine from 2019 which shows some of their designs.

All the best,

Andrew

That is good to know about comfort. That is very important to me. I’m like the princess and the pea. Feel everything with my bad bones.

Great read. Thank you. I will take a look

Have a look at S&L Motorhome’s, not as expensive as IH but the quality is outstanding. They operate out of Selby.
Darren
Will take a look. Thank you

Plenty on Planet Hampshire
Marquis motorhomes have a full yard of Vans at Lower Upham ,Don't know what makes though.

Have a look at 'sunliving' great value for money (at least mine was) but without all the flash.
Not sure how they are priced currently.
Just need to source an end cushion and back cushion to meet your needs.

The devon range are very good for the money , ive just bought the devon arizona 44k with delivery miles only

We love our IH 630RD as many of you know. We also like the fact that their after sales is really good. Carol who had been there for many years retired last year but has been replaced by a chap called John, we needn’t have worried, he is incredibly helpful.

Things always go wrong with a brand new van and you want to speak to a human being who then sorts it. We arrived in Beni and discovered the water tank cap was faulty on our 2nd IH. We’d picked up the van and left for Spain 8 or 9 days later! No problem, they posted one out.

We’d buy another, they are nice people. Ian Hartley still knows what’s going on.
We just want a fixed sink in the bathroom now although that would make it a bit of a squeeze for showering even for us!

I realise that lots of vans do the same thing for less money but we spend a lot of time away in ours in the U.K. and abroad and like to be comfortable. We also like a really big bed and don’t mind building it!

We looked at Wildax and Vantage when toying with what to buy next in a year or so’s time at the Oct 2019 show but both converters had several bits we did not like.

So as our V Line 635SE had only 8000 miles on it by last year and had all the “ bells and whistles “ we needed we decided to keep it but to add a bit of spice to it, first off we had the rear lounge modified to a U set up, this allows feet up recline on the settees if reading or watching the tv, plus more storage in the centre locker, top half front hinged locker for dirty washing and lower rear access for levellers ( seldom used ) and hook up cables. Aesthetically looks more motor home than a pair of doors. We had an extractor fan fitted in the bathroom, after showers it clears misting in a minute or so, and a MacAir roof fan vent in the front roof light ( can be set for auto temperature control or hand remote controller ). I think we are done now.

We were at a Camping and Caravan Club temporary holiday site do a couple of weeks ago and got into conversation with a couple who asked to have a look at what we done to our van, wow ! do you want to sell it ? I replied, not yet !
