I'm a newbie
The perfect campsite for me would have to be a short stroll or better still attached to a relaxed dog friendly pub.
Can anyone help me find such an place within a slow four hour drive Southampton (two hours would be better)

109 miles, 2hrs 13 mins with moderate traffic.
Great site and super pub.

Another vote for moonfruit wildcamping site. I think the website is run by a funster

East Fleet Farm near Weymouth. Great site and they have their own pub on site.

Park4night and searchforsites list loads.

All of the above, plus, just ask at a pub if you can park overnight if you are having a meal, assuming the car park looks OK and the location is good.

That’s what we do and have never been refused.

Found some lovely stop-overs purely by chance but we do use the apps etc listed above, too.

Probably a 1 hour drive from So'ton, my favourite of all is the Fighting Cocks at Godshill. A lovely new forest site but watch out for the donkeys!

We use it a lot. Great menu and very dog friendly, in the bar.

Can be busy in summer, best to go when schools go back. So much more peaceful!

Edit

2 hour, The Worlds End nr Blandford? Stayed their but the menu is not the best for us

And another favourite, Google 'The Farm Shop' Totness. Great for dog walks, pub near by.. The farm shop do a lovely breakfast for a very reasonable price.

Water on tap in several places and very private parking round the back of the farm shop.

But please spend money their, otherwise i can see height barriers being put up with ' no overnight parking signs everywhere.

Shame to spoil such a lovely site.

Cofton Park , Cockwood near Dawlish Warren. Open all year and on ACSI card is only about 15 quid a night. Great walks and a two good pubs 10 minutes walk away. Both allow dogs. Similarly Ladram Bay.

Sorry, the farm shop Topsham. Not Totness!
