Hello everyone! I am struggling to find public weighbridges. Does anyone know if there is one near Lancaster? Thanks!

Have you tried these?

Also scrap yards, builders merchants.........

Thanks Spriddler! I had checked those. Seems the nearest to our required location is Settle. Not too bad, but I wondered if there were any Lancaster way. We will give Settle a go. Cheers.

I believe the Quarry at Over Kellet MAY offer use of their weighbridge, but it’s only hearsay so you should phone them first. Another worth trying is Morecambe metals.

Glasson grain, situated at Glasson dock have a weighbridge presumable as they have a weighbridge supervisor, don’t know if they would allow it to be used by the public, maybe worth contacting to ask as they are only 4 mile out of lancaster

If you travel south to Garstang , c&c supplies have a public weigh bridge . Just check with them for cost and opening times .

Curiously enough, I have just been watching the video regarding driving LGV's in the Lakes.

The driver had just dropped his load at Claughton Brick Works between Caton and Hornby on the A683 towards Yorkshire.

He had to run over the weighbridge there before tipping.

I think they are called Forterra now.......

Get a weight for each axle so that you can calculate the permissible payload for each axle from the info on the VIN plate.
Obviously add the two together for the gross vehicle weight.

Thank you all! Settle Coal is the one, I think. It's open when we need it.

All the replies are much appreciated, cheers. 👍
